Interesting afternoon.

Man United looked like they were going to make up a cricket score, after 12 minutes, but it ended 2-0.

Charlton won 2-1 v Boro, who put out a much changed team, 9 changes from the side who beat Roma.

Arsenal won 2-1 v Liverpool. Was closer than Arsenal would have liked missing so many chances, and Shabby Alonso was sent off for 2 late tackles. Gerrard made a backpass to Henry again!

But the biggest game is tonight, Juventus v Milan!

Oh and Heerenveen lost to Utrecht Ajax and PSV ended 0-0

Great defence from Boro last night. A tiny club like Boro, deserves alot of praise for dumping out a European Giant like Roma, especially as they were falling all over the place at the sound of the wind.

Looks like it's down to Arsenal and Boro in Europe for England this season.

Good to see 3 strikers scoring for Liverpool last night in that 5-1 thrashing of Fulham.

Liverpool are still looking like being Chelsea's main challenger over the next few years.

I wasn't suggesting that we'd beat them in the race for 2nd. in the Premiership. We probably won't, simply because they have far more home fixtures left to play in comparison to us. It was the suggestion that we're 'out of form' at the moment that I found amusing. We beat Arsenal, knocked manure out of the FA Cup, lost 0 - 1 away to Benfica (when our dominance of the game should've had the tie wrapped-up there and then, by a good two or three goal margin), beat Man City, drew with Charlton, lost 0 - 2 to Benfica (we deserved a draw at least in a game that should've been merely a formality), lost 1 - 2 to Arsenal (only because of a last-gasp fluke, in a game we deserved to win), beat Fulham 5 - 1 (it could easily have been double figures), and beat Newcastle 3 - 1 (it should really have been double that). I don't think many teams in any league would mind having a run of form like that. And we're not five points behind with manure having a game in hand, we're two points behind and manure have two games in hand.

However, once the derby is out of the way, we've not got anything too challenging left, on paper at least. And manure still have Arsenal (H) and Chelski (A) to play, and I can't see them picking up anything more than one point from those two fixtures. They also play Bolton and Spurs away, and I'd expect them to pick up no more than four points. So there's seven points for manure to drop.

Remaining fixtures and predictions:

Liverpool

Everton (H) 3
West Brom (A) 3
Bolton (H) 3
Blackburn (A) 1
West Ham (A) 3
Aston Villa (H) 3
Portsmouth (A) 3

manure

Birmingham (H) 3
West Ham (H) 3
Bolton (A) 1
Arsenal (H) 0
Sunderland (H) 3
Spurs (A) 0
Middlesbrough (H) 3
Chelski (A) 0
Charlton (H) 3

Liverpool 80 points manure 79 points

Steven Gerrard sent off in Merseyside derby, and deservedly so, what a fool. Good job England have the more consistent and more reliable Frank Lampard for the summer.

Did not see the 3rd Liverpool goal or Neville red card, so can't comment, but thought Van der Meyde's red card was harsh, as he was looking at the ball the whole time, and Beattie and Crouch were jumping like that all match, Think Mr Dowd was looking to even things up after Gerrard's red

ITH, the third goal was great. Kewell scored a cracker!

And Van de Mayde's red card was totallyy jusitified i think.

But, i'm jsut happyyy that we won especially with Gerrard being sent off so early.
