thought it would be more to be honest 33%, some of whom will have no choice if they wish to travel so I would imagine that will be pushed downwards closer to 15% or less as it is rolled out

I believe it’s far higher than 33% not being happy about having vaccine ( at this stage) ... I’ve seen how some are very apprehensive/ reluctant in conversation but when asked in a group situation they kept quiet or approved ..

That suggests they were simply being pressured into going with the ‘flow’ of the conversation driven by some of our younger colleagues.

Sky reporting it’s 1 in 5 (20%)

Will be interesting to see the Tier reviews on 16th.....Gtr Manchester still dropping but London rising with a far higher infection rate now than Mcr. Bet we stay in Tier 3 and they in Tier 2 though.

Whoever is first in line to get the jab must be getting ready now wherever they're launching it [top secret location] as the ITV News said the first lot will be given "before dawn".

Can't believe the day has come honestly. Here's to, hopefully, the beginning of the end of the pandemic as we know it.

Hang on a Second
as there are slight problems
like the Time that injection will last.

So it will have to be all over again
when they have found out the early takers
of this med., are getting ill again.

It's still a momentous occasion Arista. We finally have some hope that there could be a way out of this for us all. The flu jab is an annual jab....so what if the Covid jab is too? Don't be a doom maker all the time

Yes it a Step in the Right Direction.

Meanwhile
Radio 5 just reported No Kay Burley
as she had a birthday party
that breached Covid Rules.

[Burley, who was facing an internal inquiry on Monday night over the incident,
went to the Century Club in Soho, London,
to mark the occasion in a group of 10 that included Sky colleagues Beth Rigby,
Inzamam Rashid and Sam Washington.
The group sat at two tables, of six and four, before going on to
a nearby restaurant, Folie.
A smaller group of four then returned to Burley’s home to continue the celebrations.]

https://www.theguardian.com/media/20...onavirus-rules

[Burley has been a stern interrogator of politicians who
have been perceived as making excuses over lockdown breaches this year.]

She loves picking on MP's that do what she
has just done.

...just adding to that, Arista...

Grandmother-of-four Margaret Keenan, 90, has become the first person in the world to receive the jab as part of a vaccination programme.

Mrs Keenan, who has lived in Coventry for six decades but is originally from Eniniskillen, Northern Ireland, was given the vaccine by nurse May Parsons at the city's University Hospital at 6.31am.

She said being the first was "a privilege" and "the best early birthday present I could wish for" as it would mean she could spend time with her family and friends in the New Year "after being on my own for most of the year".

She thanked Ms Parsons and the NHS staff for looking after her "tremendously".

And added: "My advice to anyone offered the vaccine is to take it - if I can have it at 90 then you can have it too!"

...Margaret Keenan......

I know I know I'm a pessimist and I piss on everyone's chips etc etc. but honestly, I do have my concerns with the current situation. We have no idea how effective the vaccines are outside of test conditions, we have no idea how long immunity lasts, and we have no idea how likely it is that Covid will at some point (or already has) gone through a mutation that impacts vaccine effectiveness.

Is it cause for cautious optimism? Sure, but there's a phrase about "counting chickens" that springs to mind on this one, and as always my worry is the social effect of people firmly believing we've now "beaten Covid" if we in fact have not.

Oh dear, what is wrong with these people that they can't give up their birthday celebrations for now, no household mixing so it doesn't matter if they sat at different tables, they are all different households.

...I guess that we may not have ‘beaten it’ yet, TS...but there was no way of suppressing it at all before, other than to distance from living and distance from freedoms and the loss of so much for so many people in so many ways...?...this is a hugely optimistic and exciting time for those who work in the vaccine world, is all I know, it’s felt pretty confidently of the effectiveness outside of test conditions...otherwise it wouldn’t have been released and passed...we’ve never had so many amazing and knowledgable minds in the medical science world so focused on one same thing...well, ever ...if the vaccine lasted 6 months, for instance...then in that 6 months there would be more tweaks/advancements/more scientific working etc I would think, so that maybe only one injection would be needed and the immunity lasting longer, possibly..?...so every step of any immunity from the vaccine will be a step closer to ‘beaten’ or to very manageable control...there may still be a huge amount of steps on the ladder but now we’re beginning that climb ...

...no one is counting chickens so much as just taking each step we’re able to, to hopefully a more meaningful life...

I think they people who weren't following the guidelines either way will continue and those who have will continue to do so as long as they are following what is going on of course, if they are not and are taking their news from headlines then who knows

Also for anyone in a care home, or families of those the relief that they will finally be able to visit will be enormous.

I heard a vaccinologist say yesterday that Moderna developed the vaccine almost straight away due to the virus having been sequenced so quickly

Firstly I want to re-state there are endless wrongs that have been done, maybe even deliberately during this pandemic via the PM's his Ministers and government's incompetence leading to dangerous and fatal results.
Which are in my personal view unforgivable.

However, this is really good news and IF the government has at last, even just on the roll out of this vaccine over the coming months, got its act firmly together, then it is to be praised for it unreservedly.
Which I do so too.

Obviously we need to see what results the mass roll out brings about.
However, it has to be done and I just hope all will go well and now at last instead of risking lives, lives now really can be saved as to this vile virus.

My other concern however, is now as to a likely minority of people, which is not really known if it is a minority or not.
I heard in a supermarket yesterday, comments from people, 'the vaccine is being given now so it's just about all over'.

That is worrying if any think like that.
I just hope it doesn't lead to more carelessness over the coming months.
I think the roll out beginning now, very selectively is wise at first.
However this 5 day break of restrictions over Christmas, I still think a mistake.
With reports of people now getting the vaccine, that could lead to the thinking, well they've a vaccine now, they'd be able to deal with it easier now.
I hope not, however I have that concern.

I'd also like to express to all staff in the NHS and care sectors who, after being put at serious risk over the earlier months of ths pandemic, I'd like to express my support and thanks to them for all their selfless attitude, then and now.
To all the staff involved too, who work in the NHS and care sector from other Nations.
To thank them for their commitment to the UK and for the tireless work they do for all of us who needed or need their care.

I hope this worrying government, will reward them rightly and more importantly really respect them for their service of care in the UK.
Treat them with respect not just pay lip service.
