I think everyone should get the vaccine, unless there's a medical reason why they can't.

Of course the vaccines do not stop you from catching the virus or passing it
on, that’s not how they work.

A respiratory virus transmits primarily via exhaled droplets of water, coughs,
sneezes and touching surfaces with contaminated hands. All of this (including
airways and nasal cavities ) is “external” to the body.

The vaccines work by stimulating the immune system to attack infected cells
and the virus itself. All of this is from “inside” the body.

Which is why an infected person can still transmit the virus even if
vaccinated. It takes time for the infection to pass from the airways, into the
cells and bloodstream, at which point the immune system can respond. Until
then the infection can be spread by exhaled droplets, often without the
person being aware as they don’t have symptoms.

So vaccination status has nothing whatsoever to do with the transmissibility
of this virus, and won’t slow its spread at all.

Unvaccinated people are being scapegoated for the failure

of politicians to understand what a vaccine can and can’t do.

(interesting DT comment)

This too is a misunderstanding of the actual facts though - it's been well established that higher viral load = more infectious, or in simpler terms, you're more likely to infect someone if you have symptoms than if you don't, though it is still possible.

Thus, vaccinated individuals CAN still spread Covid but if the vaccine means they have few or zero symptoms, they should spread it to fewer people.

The misunderstanding I think comes from a belief that it's a simple binary "can or can't pass it on". It's actually a sliding scale.

a more transmissible milder variant is exactly what we can expect at this stage in the pandemic tho?

You might have a point there.

To play Devil's Advocate though, what if Omicron is more lethal than what us plebs are being told? Hopefully that's not the case, but it would explain such an extreme reaction to what's meant to be a "mild" variant.

i think the simple answer is that they wont know how serious it is until it infects 10s of thousands, so at the moment they are trying to slow the infection spread down to give science a chance to get ready.

If they didnt take these measures now, they would be accused of not acting fast enough and potentially causing the death of thousands, so I can see the dilemma they have. I don't like the restrictions at all, but I will accept them for a short time if it potentially saves a lot of lives

Good morning Britain Post a poll.

It seems like the outcome of the poll wasn't going the way they wanted it to, so they deleted it. The question is, why?

Has any spokesperson for Good Morning Britain explained why, Arista?

If not, then all I can do is take a guess. My guess would be it's because they're not journalists but instead are propagandists.

SO why would the PM simply not say that?

Urgent Question
Live in Parliament. (Both News Channels)

Labour
angry again.

Downing St party 2020

We are in a pandemic.
More important help is needed,
than Labour getting angry.

Arista, why haven't you announced that Mr Johnson's partner gave birth today yet?
