This dailymail reader comment made me think

Quote:
In assassinating Bin Laden - because that's what it was, America can no longer claim the moral high ground. Surely if they can get into his compound they can bring him back to the US to stand trial and prove his guilt before a jury. It sickens me to see people cheering and dancing in the street at the murder of a man, even if he's a terrorist. We pour scorn and hatred on Muslims when they celebrate the murder of Americans and Brits, yet now we dance at the murder of a Muslim. Sadly they have won, they have have reduced us back to their level.

I honestly think this is quite far fetched and dont even know if i believe it. It has been announced on the date of hitlers death and its like americas all time economical low today as well i think (my mum told me). Sounds a touch like they are trying to cover something up.

And yes i think people celebrating someones death is disgusting. He may have been a terrorist but he is still a person. People associate him as the 'boss' or 'leader' of terrorism, people act like their will be no more now when in actual fact nothing much has changed. We don't know that he has actually done anything for a long time.

Oh so thats okay, it's not like he ever did anything bad in the past is it? Apart from being the mastermind of a plot that killed 3,000 people in one day, but hey! That's okay, it was ten years ago!

Yeah no i still think he is evil its just people act as if terrorism will stop now but it wont. There have been several terrorist attacks since 9/11 that haven't been proved to be related to him in anyway. The only thing i was commenting on is the fact people think its over when its not changed.

Im certainly not condoning his actions what so ever. Its just osama isnt terrorism he was just a terrorist.

This is quite interesting, its how they found him:

Quote:
Kat Hannaford — In this age of GPS signals, Foursquare check-ins, and iPhone tracking, how did America's most-wanted man, Osama Bin Laden, stay hidden for almost a decade? A better question would ask how he was found, for that is the reason the world is rejoicing today.

Despite hiding in plain sight of a police station and military headquarters in Abbottabad, Pakistan, Bin Laden's million-dollar mansion—eight times larger than the mansions surrounding it—was stormed in a raid last night. US officials had tracked one of Bin Laden's trusted right-hand men, a courier, after he was identified by detainees captured after 9/11, and discovered he lived with his brother in an "extraordinarily unique compound," which "harboured a high-value terrorist target," according to various senior administration officials.

It was the fact that this mysteriously large mansion lacked a phone line or internet connection that ultimately made officials believe something was amiss. With all the riches in the world, could they not afford a connection? Other details soon began causing suspicion too—trash was burned instead of put out for collectors, like their neighbors did. What was this three-story mansion hiding?

Whatever it was hiding, they were hiding it well: security measures included mammoth walls up to 5.5m in height, laced with barbed wire, along with internal walls that gave the compound a maze-like quality. There were few windows according to officials, which no doubt masked the third family living with the courier and his brother—Osama Bin Laden, and his youngest wife.

After the US military entered the compound in a 40-minute long raid, five adults were killed in the firefight: Osama; his son; the courier and his brother, and a woman who may or may not be Bin Laden's wife. Details are still trickling out now about the raid, and how Bin Laden was discovered, but one thing's certain: this sadly won't be the last time terrorism rears its ugly head. [The Guardian and JPost and Boing Boing and ABC]

Hmmm. Oh and that picture of his corpse is photoshopped. Gizmodo (the site with that^ story) explained it all.

Noone is really saying that this is the end of terrorism, it is a big victory over Al Qaeda though, even if it is only symbolic. I dont really blame people for celebrating, even though I wouldnt do it myself, he's the biggest terrorist mastermind of the last few decades, he has the blood of thousands of his hands, mind you so does the American and British governments

People in America have the right to celebrate. He was responsible for 9/11, which killed over 3000 people. Lots of people lost wives, husbands, children etc. on that day and he was the mastermind behind it.

Apparently when they were firing at him, he pulled a woman infront of him and used her as human shield

Bomb has gone off in a mosque in Pakistan killing three, not clear whether it's linked to Bin Laden's death though
