Well not really, there's still many mysteries in the universe that can only yet be explained by the presence of a God

I don't believe in gods at all and I struggle to get to grips with the whole concept.
1. Of course

2. Nah, God is not a genie. God knows everything, if he wants you to have something, you would. Prayer is strictly to show honor to God, and has nothing to do with asking for stuff. That is a stupid western creation by PC Christians who tote the nonsense of 'God is love' (God does love, but he is much more than that. You show honor to God because he created you and offers you salvation due to his mercy after Adam and Eve disobeyed him, not because he let you get an A on a test)

(this is for a Christian god obvs)

I don't consider myself a Christian per say, but these are the correct answers

Science. The 'Big Bang' is the cause for the accelerating universe. Like dropping a stone in water. A ripple effect.

The amount of energy in the Big Bang doesn't cover the universe accelerating still now, that's why scientist have turned to stuff like dark energy - which is still considered largely hypothetical - to explain it

But anyway I'm not getting into an argument about it, I'm just saying that there are still things in the universe that science doesn't explain and an existence of God does, seen as with a God anything is plausible

I don't believe there is a god... I do believe that over hundreds of years , people have needed a greater being to have faith in in times of fear, desperation, grief and loneliness and have created the idea of god.

It still doesn't require a 'god' to accomplish. Like I say its a ripple effect. Eventually, it will stop then start to fading into nothing. The gases that were created by the Big Bang that are still within the ripple effect and the cause for the expanding universe, which create suns and planets etc, will eventually fade until it literally runs out.

It's not completely understood yet, but it's a gap in the knowledge. Inserting god into the conversation explains absolutely nothing. You're still left with the question who created the creator? If anyone who does believe in god is better off staying away from science altogether, to avoid becoming a god who solely exist in gaps in scientific knowledge.

There is only one way that can end, as more and more gaps are filled in. There was a time when lots of what we know today could have been caricatured as "that's why they have turned to stuff like..."

I agree. Science isn't dogma though - anything that isn't understood in scientific communities is viewed as an opportunity.

You need to make your references a little less obscure for me to get them, I'm afraid!!

I believe anyone who believes that the concept of god is to 'save' is deluded.

I believe religion is personal. I would never ridicule anyone for their beliefs or non beliefs. I have had the argument many times. For some religion can bring great peace of mind, for others it's the root of all evil. It's personal and as long as it doesn't incite hatred or violence everyone is entitled to their own beliefs

Great post, Annie.

I don't have much time for religions that recruit, and I dislike the certainty with which some non-believers ridicule people with faith. I also get tired of people assuming that if someone believes in God it's because they need a crutch to get them through bad times or to lean on because their life sucks.
