count to 5 and drink some water do this 10 time it might not get rid of your hiccups but it will make me lol

My dad's friend has this uncanny knack of being able to get you to stop hiccuping, I don't know how he does it, how it works or if it's just sheer fluke every time but I think on about half a dozen occasions now I've seen him say to someone "if you can hiccup right now I will give you a fiver" and they just completely stop and can't do it, he touches people on the arm when he does it, no idea if it's just a fluke or what but it's bloody impressive

Its probably something to do with concentration.

People say if you break a toothpick in half and place it in a glass of water then drink from the water it stops them, because you are looking at the toothpick incase you drink it

Not sure if it works or not.
