Everything in life depends on the reason behind the deed. Ken wasnt being viscious to Alex, Alex just pointed out to him that in the company of some black people he wouldnt have gotten away with it. The other so called slight was once again generalising on a conversation.

Generalising:-
Neither Ken nor Alex will suffer tbh as they are of the age where they have made their way in life. Whilst some of the public will criticise the other half will praise. This is life. Each one knows what is in their hearts. Each have their own fanbase. I do feel though that Ken may be annoyed, Alex will just carry on.

Freedom of speech shouldn't mean the right to say what you like without being criticised. Some people think their free speech is infringed if someone calls them a bigot. However it also works the other way. It's their right to call someone a "crazy leftie" as well.
