Well you have just contradicted yourself there.....older people like their sleep. It probably does lower their immunity more than it would a younger person. I smoke occasionally but stepping outside in the cold and damp for a cigarette makes me think twice. I pick up colds easily, I am mid fifties.... It's quite understandable how they have become unwell. It's been cold and going from a warm house into the cold air every 5 mins to smoke is not good
So it is an 'age thing'. I love to see the older people in the house to give some diversity...and maturity. Maybe a summer CBB is a better option.

Im "over 21" and smoke outside, I also go to bed hours after my younger husband and my daughters,I have more energy and drive than most 18 year old ,I dont get unwell from going outside any more than a 18 yr old would ,its a bit ageist what you are suggesting

When I say an age limit I mean like 60... Don't get me wrong Chuff I like the older generation in there....or maybe they should make it a summer CBB...then none of the housemates will be prone to colds and flu.

The older hm8s are ALWAYS the best and most interesting ,they are not there to sleep around or pretend to be loud mouth bullies as others are, I'm really shocked you have even brought this up

Well you are lucky then...it's not the case with many. It's a fact that older people are more prone to illnesses and colds and flu. It doesn't surprise me in the least if they have both been unwell....
As I have said before I am not ageist...I like the older people in there.

Nearly all of them smoke so what's that got to do with it...and Daniela had the same bug that David had....so what's it got to do with being old....and has Angie left because she is sick...didn't seem that way to me, seemed to me more like she was sick of having no sleep night after night....same as John yesterday and Gemma 2 days before that, in fact, when Gemma said she was gonna quit it was for exactly the same reason .....all this attacking people for their age is so inaccurate .....they are not in the final stages of consumption, they're not in their 90s.....Angie Bowie could prob take each and every one of em out....that's why they didn't dare try it with her....it's so rubbish to blame the age and so not PC.....and people on here who are in their 50s and agree with it I feel sorry for....to right yourself off like that is just hard for me to comprehend ...it's bad enough that young people are attacking the older group but when mature people start doing it then something feels very wrong to me

Nice how the age limit that seems so attractive to some people has been set at 60....how do you reach that conclusion ?.why don't you be more specific ? ... Make it 60 if they don't have a colostomy bag and 55 if they do....and if any slip under the radar and make it to 70 then just take em to the diary room and strangle em with their thermal vest

I am not attacking the older group... Where did I attack?? I am merely saying that at this time of year and in the cold weather that we have had, sitting out in the cold,smoking, inhaling cold air...the chances are you will get a cold. Having got that cold and then continuing to do it, the chances are you will get a chest infection. Younger people cope with these things better than older people...I'm talking 60/65+.

Now you are putting words in my mouth.... At 55 I wouldn't go out in a mini skirt or hot pants. The point being that at some point in your life there are some things we refrain from doing...and I wouldn't have liked my nan at the age of 70 to be stepping in and out of the cold air to smoke because she would have most likely have caught a cold that could then have more dangerous repercussions for someone her age...like chest infections or pneumonia.
You can't stop people from doing what they want... I don't want older people to stop going in the house...they are far more interesting. However Angie and David struggled...more so Angie as at least David mixed and conversed with the younger HM's but they were exempt from things and they struggle with the sleep depravation more so than a younger person.
Let's not forget...these two must be late 60's...or more.
