Good luck to the candidates for West Midlands Mayor.
Andy Street has a strong personal vote and it would be expected to see him hold on I think. He's another who has distanced himself rather from the government. Brand Andy rather than Tory. Last edited by joeysteele; 04-05-2024 at 10:12 AM. |

I just hand-filled in a 4 page questionnaire handed in by my local Conservative and Unionist candidate which I will post later
It asked a lot of questions about the Scottish government as well as how the council is performing Very cathartic

Keir Starmer has declared he is confident Sadiq Khan will achieve a historic third term as Mayor of London as his Tory challenger Susan Hall aims to secure an upset.
Speaking on a visit to the East Midlands, where Labour triumphed in the first ever metro mayor contest, Sir Keir told reporters Mr Khan was “absolutely the right candidate” amid speculation the result could be tighter than many predicted. “He has got two terms of delivery behind him and I am confident that he has got another term of delivery in front of him,” Sir Keir said. ![]() we are doomed |

SIR – Following the Blackpool South by-election result, the usual
Conservative suspects came on air to warn us that voting for Reform UK may let in Labour, and that its voters should hence continue to support the Government, despite its track record. I always want to ask these people if they would run a business this way. If they had hired someone who presented well at interview, but who, once installed, proved dishonest, incompetent, lazy, spendthrift and unwilling to carry out any of the agreed work, would they keep on paying that person for fear of hiring someone even worse? The Conservative Party needs to be ejected from office as a goal in itself, because if it is not, it will not change. This is entirely separate from the question of who replaces it. It will then be up to the party to reflect in opposition on where it went wrong, and return to the electorate in due course with a Conservative offering. J P Redman London NW11 |
