I personally don't think anyone had an easy time in the house. The whole point of it is to heighten tension and stress for entertainment. |

But I do believe that in particular Marcello, Lily, and Nathan also faced a lot of unnecessary hate during the Show too, and of course the 700 weirdos complaining to Ofcom about Sarah's joke. And of course there was Ryan's hate that he was receiving over a joke in a VT. ![]() I doubt that the margin is as big as you're thinking it was, especially as Ali haters did (imo) have some just issue out constructive criticism, which I wouldn't necessarily say was the case with HM's like Nathan and Ryan imo.

I don't want to keep going on, so I'm just going to say one last thing.
Firstly, I don't think any housemate should be subject to intense name calling and certain people calling anyone a paedophile or giving them death threats should probably be giving some kind of police warning because it's disgusting. For me, the difference between the vitriol aimed at Ali and that at Marcello is the difference between interpretation and acceptability. That is the say, much of the critique aimed at Ali was peoples interpretation and perception of her actions and words. The main overtly poor behaviour from Ali, which is not really up to interpretation was how she handled herself in her argument with Khaled and her bitching. I'm going to strike bitching off her scorecard because literally everyone in the house is guilty of it. Much of the rest was open to assessment by the viewers and Ali was called a multitude of things based on a viewers interpretation, rather than actual evidence and fact. Even things like her being a lesbian, her wearing certain t-shirts and her being friends with Lily were interpreted negatively to the nth degree. So often the critique felt very unjust and sometimes based on fantasy, rather than reality, because for me to find that critique fair I'd have to assume that persons interpretation is correct. Conversely, much of the critique towards Marcello is based on actual things he said and rather than interpretation of the words. Whether you think the critique is fair or not comes down to whether you find what he said acceptable or not. There is no need to create scenarios in your head in regards to many of the things Marcello said, in the same way people did with Ali. For instance, Marcello was called a Misogynist because of the things he said actually said to or about women. Ali was called a Misandrist because of peoples interpretation on her having mainly disagreements with men. There is a distinct difference. That isn't the say either should be dragged over the hot coals, or that Ali was a saint, but it goes some way to explain the difference between critiquing someone who you interpret to have behaved poorly and critiquing someone who has actually said words that will offend someone. |

Absolutely wonderful summary/interpretation of the events involving Ali and Marcello !! I wish I had your way with words … many times I jumped in to defend Ali because someone had posted something hateful about Ali based on something they thought Ali was thinking or was likely to do !! Unbelievable !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
