Altrincham had their appeal against the deduction of 18 points for fielding a player without International clearance. They lost the appeal and will be relegated to Conference North .There's a website will full details of the e-mails that the Forest Green Rovers press officer(Colin Peake) sent grassing them up and basically telling the conference officials and the FA to punish them and asking for the other conference clubs to support him.

I saw a feature about that on the news recently. It does seem to be a ridiculously harsh punishment, and the grounds for it dubious, to say the least. Is that the last opportunity they have to appeal, BB f?

Anyway, I wanted to ask you what you thought on the Cisse situation. I don't know if it was reported nationally or not, but there was an article about him in last Saturday's Liverpool Echo. He's apparently made a 'come and get me' plea to Marseille (a week before, he was saying he didn't want to leave and expected to still be on the books at Liverpool next season). It was always highly likely that he'd leave during the summer anyway, but he seems to have pretty much guaranteed his own exit now.

So, how much do you think we'll get for him? The Echo were suggesting Ł8 million, but I can only see him going for that if he has a decent World Cup. And who would you like to see us sign? Yakubu and Darren Bent seem likely options, but I'd definitely go for Bent from those two. I think he's got slightly less time left on his contract than Yakubu, he was signed for less, and Charlton have something silly like what, 9 strikers on their books (if you include Jeffers)? Then there's Charlton's managerial situation, and the opportunity for silverware and European football we'd give him, plus his chances of breaking into the England squad would be greatly enhanced, too. And because he's English, we wouldn't be a striker short at important times because of international duty, either. Middlesbrough don't seem likely to part with Yakubu easily, and he seems quite committed to them, in any case.

I keep hearing different things about Cisse, one minute hes happy and then the next hes not, if he is going to go though then i'm sure Rafa will be hoping he has a decent world cup that way you at least get a bit of money for him. As for who you bring in i reckon Darren Bent would be a good signing, i was always suprised when he signed for Charlton to be honest and looking at his goal tally he could easily get goals for Liverpool and lets face it hes a better play than Peter Crouch in my opinion, his pace is unbelivable - he leaves defenders for dead all the time.

I just edited my post about that! He said a week before the article I mentioned that he was happy and didn't want to leave. I don't like his reputation, anyway. He's far too controversial off the pitch, and he puts the club in a bad light.

Yep it's the last chance they had to appeal, they obviously deserved a punishment but 18 points was always too harsh for me. I find the actions of Colin'rulebook' Peake rather pathetic.

Cisse has always hinted at going to Marseille then saying oh I've got a contract at Liverpool and I want to honour it. I'm not even sure what he want's. As for how much we get for him I agree that Ł8 million was a pretty high figure but if he does have a really good world cup I can see us getting that for him and obviously there would be more interest in him. If he just has an average world cup I think he may go for a similar figure as Baros did, maybe even less. I'd like Darren Bent to replace him if he does go,he's clearly shown he can make the step up to premiership level and his a better all round player than what Cisse is, I expect with Charlton without a manager he'd be looking to move now.I see we are also after Kuyt, I have not seen a great deal of him so I'd say Bent's the best option.

It really is extreme. Hopefully they'll be able to turn things around as quickly as possible.

Yeah, we've been linked with Kuyt on and off for a while now, but this time he claims we've already made an offer. His goal tally is very impressive (71 in 101 games), but that's in a much weaker league of course, and his tally drops to 1 in 4 for international games. It seems we could find ourselves in a bidding war with Newcastle for his services, which isn't good considering that they have a tendency to bid silly money to ensure that they get their man. And apparently it's going to take a lot for Feyenoord to let him go, given that they rejected a Ł10 million offer from Everton last year. We need 2 strikers anyway, so there's not going to be too much left in the kitty if we pay out as much as that for one player. Morientes' agent said yesterday that he's not going anywhere, too.

I hope Morientes does go, he's just not suited to the English game and as he get's older he'll only get worse. I'd proably get rid of him and just play Sinama-Pongolle more, I've always been impressed with him.

I see that Daniel Alves might be coming from Seville, he looked class in the Uefa cup final but we've already got Finnan and Kromkamp for right back.Hopefully we can get a right winger in quickly.

Yeah, it's a shame that he didn't make the grade in the Premiership. I did enjoy watching him play, though. Even though his goal tally for us was poor, his ball control at times was a joy to watch. He seems to have lost his place at the World Cup as a result too, despite his excellent record at international level. I'm not sure if Pongolle will be back or not. Blackburn have said that they'd like to sign him on a permanent deal. He's definitely a player with huge potential, but I like Mellor, too.

Kromkamp is supposedly on his way from Anfield already. I'd like to see a few signings soon, though. I was expecting a few before the World Cup started. I'd love to see Wright-Phillips at Anfield. There was a rumour that we were about to sign him for Ł14 million, but I can't see us paying that for a midfielder. Chelsea aren't likely to be very keen to do business with us, anyway. But his dad certainly dropped some heavy hints during the FA Cup Final coverage that it was a strong possibility.

Has another club quit the Conference then, as Tamworth were next in line.

Did Canvey quit as they said they might?

Yep Canvey quit a couple of weeks ago now because their chairman/manager pulled out his funding and went and took the job at Chelmsford.

Foster has had a super season, and could easily be ahead of Carson, who isn't commanding enough yet, although behind Paul Robinson, the England GK situation is quite shocking.
