Madonna fans are being urged to stay away from her forthcoming Sticky and Sweet tour date in Bulgaria by the country's Orthodox Church.
Church of Bulgaria officials have accused the star of showing a "lack of respect" for church rituals. They expressed their "disapproval and disagreement" with her planned show this Saturday in the Bulgarian capital. The concert, at Sofia's Vasil Levski Stadium, is expected to be attended by about 50,000 people. Saturday is also a day of lent for Orthodox Christians marking the beheading of John the Baptist. A statement from the Church accused Madonna of displaying "a disrespectful and intolerant attitude" to the religious feelings of Christians on her ongoing tour. "We express our Christian support and approval for the art of singing, which influences the moral development of people and promotes universal moral values," it said. "In some of her choreography and stage scenarios, this singer sends impressive messages which, however, run contrary to Christian morality." Madonna will arrive in Sofia following a concert in neighbouring Romania, on Wednesday. Almost all tickets - costing up to 150 leva (Ł67) - have already been sold, organisers said. It will be one of the largest gigs ever organised in Sofia. BBC |

Warner Bros. announcing ''Revolver''
In today's press release Warner Bros. Records has confirmed the final track listing for Madonna's upcoming "Celebration" CD scheduled to be released on September 28/29th. The new press release adds a few tidbits and expalins how the songs on the album - which were selected by Madonna and her fans - have all been exquisitely remastered. It also mentions for the first time in an official publicity release the other newly recorded song, "Revolver" featuring Lil Wayne. "Revolver", now listed on the Warner Chappell online catalogue, writing credits are shared by Carlos Centel Battey, Steven Andre Battel (The Jackie Boyz), Dwayne Carter (Lil Wayne), Justin Scott Franks, Brandon Kitchen, and Madonna. Madonna clearly continues to rule the dance floor with her latest single, the press release also comments. Her "Celebration" Remix EP is #1 on iTunes Dance Album chart as well as #1 on the Masterbeat overall chart. The song is #5 on Billboard’s Club Singles Chart and the Greatest Gainer for the second week in a row. On the international front so far, the "Celebration" single is already #1 in Italy and Holland, #2 in Japan and is Top 5 airplay in every other major market. |

24, 26 & 29 August - Belgrade, Bucharest & Sofia
The last 3 shows on the European continent were all in brand new countries for Madonna. Naturally she got a lot of attention in Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria with her fantastic show, showed top form and pleased legions of fans. Unfortunately not everything went perfect, since it already made rounds in the worldwide press that Madonna spoke up against Gypsy-discrimination at the Bucharest show which divided the audience and a considerable amount of attenders did not share Madonna's enthusiasm. Since then both Madonna and her Gypsy band reaffirmed their point of view and condemned the people booing her. In Sofia, a fan outside the stadium posted offensive transparents about Madonna's adoption and he immediately got banned from attending the concert. Thankfully this incident did not escalate, neither Madonna repeated her Gypsy speech in Bulgaria, so the sold out crowd of the Levski Stadium did not get affected and got a top-notch performance. The Michael Jackson tribute during Holiday also felt more special for both the fans and the performers, as MJ would have turned 51 on August 29th (for more on the Bucharest show, check out SPIN's review). Contrary to previous reports, Madonna did not stay in Vienna during the Eastern European leg, she divided her time between Budapest and Bucharest, even got spotted relaxing a bit with her dancers in the hotel pool in Romania. After the Sofia show Madonna immediately flew to Israel, where the tour is sadly coming to an end. The last 2 shows in Tel Aviv are immensely hyped up and there are several rumours circulating. At the very least, Madonna will definitely give her all to honor the tour finale double-date in a place that's very special for her. Last, but not least, according to several reports across the online Madonna community, it seems Madonna's manager Guy Oseary has been giving out some hints to fans at the front rows about Madonna's future projects: not surprisingly, she's aiming to release a new album in the fall of 2010 (which fits her usual 2 and a half year gap between records) and then of course she would tour to promote it, might be at the end of 2010 already, or early 2011, not clear as of yet. Of course these plans are tentative, but keep in mind her current show is built around the concept of not wasting time... ;-) |

Madonna arrives in Israel ahead of Tel Aviv concerts
Jerusalem – Ma’an – Pop queen Madonna landed her private jet in Israel on Sunday ahead of two concerts in Tel Aviv. The concerts, in Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Park, on Tuesday and Wednesday, are a part of the last leg of Madonna’s global Sticky and Sweet Tour, which she launched in August of last year to promote her most recent album, Hard Candy, which received a mixed reception. Arriving from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, Madonna planned an afternoon tour of holy sites in Jerusalem. She was accompanied by 250-stong entourage. Unconfirmed reports suggested that efforts were underway to arrange meetings between the pop star and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and opposition leader Tzipi Livni. Madonna was last in Israel in 2006 when she marked the holy day of Yom Kippur with other students of the Jewish mystic tradition Kabbalah. http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=222495 |
