Robbie Williams will receive the 'Outstanding Contribution to Music' prize at next year's Brit Awards, it has been announced.
The singer, who has won more Brits than any other artist, will mark the honour with a performance at the event, which takes place at London's Earls Court on February 16. Ged Doherty, Brits committee chairman, said: "Robbie is one of the outstanding artists and performers of his generation. It will be an absolute thrill to have him at the Brits 30th anniversary show receiving the 'Outstanding Contribution' award. We are delighted." Previous recipients of the award include Sir Paul McCartney, David Bowie and last year's winners Pet Shop Boys. Williams has sold more than 55 million albums since embarking on a solo career in 1995. He has collected 11 previous Brits as a solo artist, as well as four as a member of Take That. He releases Reality Killed The Video Star, his eighth studio album, on November 9. His latest single 'Bodies' is currently at number two on the UK singles chart. Digital Spy |

No he hasn't :| Not including the 10 years off,Take That have been around for like 10 years. Hasn't he been around as a solo artists since 96? And he just had 3 years off there so same amount of time.

i love tt as well i mean thats where my robbie love started all those years ago so not only was he a part of such a successful band but lets be fair their solo efforts have nothing on robs solo stuff

They've made an impact! If it wasn't for TT he wouldn't even be here! They've had 24 singles,11 number 1's,massive stadiums shows,feck loads of awards,feck loads of album sales. IMPACT

They weren't just about good looks! It's not their fault they're gorgeous,lol. Gary wrote all the songs and they did brilliant live shows. They were about the music too. They're just more grown-up now.

Yeah,the manbands are much better,lol. The Circus and Beautiful World are the only 2 TT albums I can listen to straight-through. I'm sure Robbie has done loads,but Take That deserve that award just as much!
