However not wanting to be negative on what is this thread's 1000th post, I'm optimistic it could pull #2 as she has lots of great promo lined up, she did a fabulous performance on David Letterman last night and also has Live with Regis and Kelly, The Early Show, VH1 Storytellers and VH1 Behind The Music all lined up, with rumours she'll perform at the Teen Choice Awards!

I agree, I do enjoy the Twilight soundtracks but I think that compilations should have their seperate chart instead of charting on the Top 200.

I really thought Bionic would go #1 worldwide after the disappointing chart positions of NMT. Fingers crossed it can get the UK number one on Sunday.

well it's peaked at #1 on like 9 iTunes chart worldwide and is pretty much guaranteed UK #1 this week so it's not all bad. besides I think the album will have a lot of longevity on the charts.

Not really Sophie, not for Christina. Plus it isn't even a strong #3, the actual sales numbers are extremely low. Back To Basics sold precisely double the amount Bionic has in it;s first week.

It's not totally to do with her popularity it's just terrible marketing. She did TWO promo slots before the album was released - Oprah, performing a song that was already a flop at that stage and American Idol, performing a song nobody knew. And that was it, no word what so ever about the album until the week of it's release where she's done loads of promo - performing old songs like Fighter.

You just can't go away for four years, come back with a poorly promoted single and hope your fans will carry you.

Very true. I was sad to learn that she had cancelled all her UK promo and in all honestly I'm surprised that she's managed to hold on to the #1 spot in the album midweeks, just shows she has a strong British fanbase because I've only seen her in a pre recorded segment on GMTV few weeks back and the video for NMT on the music channels, didn't see it that much actually, but apart from that I've not seen an album advert or anything.

Hope she can cling on though because latest I heard was Alicia Keys had overtook Glee for the #2 spot and was closing in on Christina.

She didn't cancel her UK promo - she had nothing planned to begin with. She has 100% ignored Europe, which is ridiculous considering it's where she's doing best.

I think she'll be fine because she'll have strong physical sales.

Oh I wasn't aware of that. That is a shame because I think some promotion might have pushed NMT back up the charts a bit and provided the album with some more sales. Is NMT her first single from a new album which hasn't gone top 10 in the UK and USA?

no, Dirrty was a complete flop in the US, only peaked at #48. Stripped only salvaged itself by rush releasing Beautiful before it's release.

I think with promo NMT could have been a hit here. It was doing well on the charts and then she just sort of gave up on it, everywhere.

The sales may not be great but eh, I'm glad she's heading for a top #3. I dread to think of what GaGa/Brit stans would be saying had she charted less than that.

great news in - she COULD pull #2. Glee's sales have gone waaaaayyyyy down, so unless they get a new burst of life she could manage a #2. Granted with poor sales but still that's so much more than I was expecting at this stage.

Christina Aguilera's new LP Bionic has debuted at number three on the US album chart.

The record, her first in four years, was beaten to the top spot by Glee's latest soundtrack Journey To Regionals, with the new Twilight soundtrack landing in second place.

Bionic opened to sales of 110,000, compared to Glee's 152,000. Aguilera's previous LP Back To Basics sold 346,000 in its opening week.

Last week, Aguilera's record entered the UK album chart at number one with sales of 24,000, making it the lowest-selling UK number one album in chart history

Produced by Ladytron, though it doesn't really sound like them [you can TOTALLY tell they produced 'Birds Of Prey' however].

'You Lost Me' is the second single, thankfully.
The official site has referred to it several times as the next single, and recently asked fans what their 'favourite performance of the next single, 'You Lost Me' was.

I'm quite glad.
Admittedly, she needs a summer-uptempo hit, so I think she should released it alongside something like Prima Donna or WooHoo [like Beyonce/Rihanna's done] but I think it'll help remind people who Christina is [considering she's better known for her voice/big ballads] & it'll stand out amongst all the electro-pop uptempo tunes.
