People have become totally reliant on mobile communication and I think it's easy to forget that, if people in power want to cut us off at a moments notice, they absolutely can. No signal at all on any device, not even emergency, and I had this moment of "errrr wtf do I do?", feeling totally isolated and cut off. And that was just a powercut in the middle of the afternoon.

But anyway, I guess my point is, we forget how easy it would be for the authorities to shut down a comms tower and leave us all flapping in the dark.

i got a ups to cope with power cuts, plugged my router into it and it gave me internet. It couldn't drive my main computers but it did allow some comms with the outside world
