Yes again.
I wish him well, he did a good press conference yesterday.

More conviction and a hint of real compassion too.

I'm hearing a lot of stories of one person getting it within a household and the rest of the family constantly testing negative...is this a good sign.

The people being vaccinated at the moment are very vulnerable. Statistically, when millions are being vaccinated, some will die. So far, the number of deaths is tiny compared to the number vaccinated. Already, we have 4 million vulnerable people that wont require hospital treatment from covid, and that holds true even after the first jab. Personally, i think it's marvelous

Thats interesting, but the polar opposite of our house! We got it early on, me and gav were quite bad with it..it was like a really intense flu, however it only lasted 2 days (besides my current 'long covid' thats going strong! Luckily its just a bit of a cough that refuses to piss off though, so not too bad. Except now I dont dare go out at all incase I cough as people look at me like a bomb Tis odd having so many terrified of you ). So worse than flu, but much shorter. The kids got it, but showed not one symptom. Loads of people I know have had one or two members quite ill, but if the rest of the house get tested they tended to show positive despite no illness, so its certainly a welcome change of that kind of silent spreading seems to be stopping. Thats always been a huge concern of mine with this, that is a huge percentage do not have any clue theres anything wrong with them, it makes it even harder to try and control. Doesn't help matters that round here, if you don't have the 'main symptoms', you cant get a test so people are having to actively lie to get one in the first place, then it turns out they were right to lie as they are a walking infection. I know some areas are testing anyone who wants one now..seems a better plan when its widely acknowledged that loads dont show symtoms. In theory it could blaze through households/workplaces without anyone ever knowing about it :S

Of course. More will be saved by the vaccine than harmed by it. It seems awful to 'write off' some deaths, but it IS for the 'greater good' so to speak. When the pfizer one was first approved, I remember some big fuss being made about how it wasnt safe as someone had had anaphalactic shock or something from it, and thinking..well thats 'normal' surely? Its widely known some will react badly to some vaccines. THAT kind of thing being constantly spread around could potentially affect uptake..will be like the autism/MMR thing all over again. The media really need to reign it in, I know they make more money from fear, but they have behaved so ****ing irresponsibly through all this..the way they are repeating the few rare cases of bad reactions or whatever, reminds me of how obsessed they were with the tiny amounts of death in younger people. Same few over and over and over again.

Ontop of the expectation of bad reactions, we are talking about very frail elderly people. Who in reality, could very easily have been 'due' to die anyway. Again not a nice way to talk about people, but its true.

The only time adverse reactions should worry people, is if the bad reactions were significantly higher than we would generally expect. And it appears they are not.

People die everyday... if the entire population was vaccinated today, people would still be dying... the vaccine is not a cure for death...

We’ve vaccinated almost all over 80s, there will still be a lot of people dying of old age... I can totally see families and the media running with this though that the vaccine caused their death, when in reality it was a 100 year old ill person being vaccinated

yeah and also pretty disgusting to use deaths for their own anti-vaccine propaganda

those 33 elderly deaths could easily been regular flu or pneumonia now since its winter

btw considering you bring up Norway, i got a norwegian friend who works at pharmacy, he said they might think about beginning with doing vaccinations too

Netherlands: tomorrow urgent press conference, just for health minister Hugo de Jonge to announce the curfew (which is necessary bc of the more rapidly spreading british mutation of covid-19

many mayors still are against this curfew, but tonight they will have one final meeting to come to an agreement on the curfew

It's a brave statement to make when theh are still gathering evidence and the actual story says that adverse effects to the injection could be the cause of death

It all needs serious consideration that's for sure.

Ooh the 'should the vaccine be mandatory' question on the yahoo link is an interesting one to think about. I think I would swing to no, as going down a 'we can force people into medical stuff' is a VERY bad road to go down. But if the uptake is low, I wonder how many would support it being mandatory at that stage..infact, it seems a lot think it should be mandatory anyway.

Well we all have to have a TB jab at school so why shouldn't it be mandatory?

TB is not mandatory

They didn't even do it at all at my stepdaughters school. And I remember years back from getting mine (when everyone would punch me in the arm so my arm oozed aeful green **** for ages and my scar from it is horrendous ) being extremely jealous of the kids who opted out of it/their parents opted out.

https://www.bbc.com/news/52565764

No vaccines mandatory currently.
