Looks like there's some major differences! So happy this isn't just a third version, and I hope there's more than just what the trailer has to offer. Idc if it's the same Pokemon routine, I'm just treating this as an entirely new game again.

I doubt it, they probably just appear randomly like that 1 girl did in D&P
edit: I just read that they appear in a battle tournament thing ;s i'm guessing thats like the battle frontier

this purple stripey girl is a new gym leader (I guess she must be poison type)  3 ugly god things have new forms (they look quite good tbh)   the two rivals/friends from B&W are back but older (it says the boy is now a Normal type gym leader replacing that green afro woman and the girl is the professors new helper)

   Pokemon World Tournament:    "You get to battle previous Gym Leaders and Elite Four members, whom you download through Wi-Fi (apparently the characters themselves and their teams). You can participate in either single or double battles against them." PokeWood       "PokeWood (Pokemon+Hollywood) is a new feature to create movies - you pick a scenario (such as battling a mecha Tyranitar) and then record those battles to make the movie (including one step where you're on a green screen stage). You get to pick from an assortment of pre-programmed lines for your film. You are even encouraged to choose lines that don't match up with your movie to create gag films. The better your movie, the more points you'll get and the more popular it will be in-game. Brycen, the Ice-type Gym Leader from Black and White, stars in PokeWood films. just d/led a ROM for Pokemon Black (1 obviously). Shall let you know how shizz goes. I picked the grass one (i've literally only done that so far)
