Lily Allen has launched a treasure hunt in London and Aberdeen to win tickets to her forthcoming show at the capital's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.

The singer took to Twitter to announce plans to hide three pairs of golden backstage tickets in both cities for her one-off album launch show on April 28.

In a series of posts, she wrote, "I'm gonna hide 3 pairs of golden backstage Sheezus tickets in London and Aberdeen and tweet clues... First Pair... If you want to come to see Sheezus, you'll just have to follow these clues, I've hidden three tickets in London, the first set is under a pew. Row 3. To come hear me sing, along with a synth, check out the church by the lord on a plinth. Row 3. Don't be so sad, don't be so solemn, it's not really a plinth, it's more of a column. Row 3."

Lily Allen says Sheezus single too risque for radio for mentioning periods



Lily Allen has revealed that she "couldn't" release her preferred new single "[because it's] got the word 'period' in it".
In the lead-up to her new album, Sheezus, Allen has repeatedly complained about pressure when picking radio singles. Admitting that Air Balloon and L8 CMMR are "docile pop", she said they were chosen because labels and radio stations "won't play the better stuff". Now, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Allen offered an explanation for the anodyne music choices.

"It wasn't [the label]'s fault," Allen said. "I would have liked to see [the song] Sheezus as a single, but it's not up-tempo enough. It's also got the word 'period' in it, which is really offensive to people – even though half the world has to deal with it once a month."

"I think that 'period' is going to be my 'surfboard'," she said, referring to controversial lyrics in Beyoncé's recent hit Drunk in Love. "It's groundbreaking! I'm proud of that … People will wear sweatshirts to my concerts that are just going to say 'period'."

Allen blames most of the issues about lyrical and musical content on record-company employees who are afraid of losing their jobs because of poor album sales. That's why, for instance, they "freaked out" about Allen's attempt to change her performing name to match her married name, Lily Cooper. "They convinced me that it could be a massive contributing factor to my failure, so I was like, 'OK'." It's also why the singer is looking forward to completing her label contract, after two more releases.

"I just want to have more control," she said. "I wish they would let me do it in my way." In fact, Allen would rather not work with a label at all – even her own, saying she would like to find alternative financing, such as a hedge fund. "They could help me pay to get the record done, and I could just give it away and then go on tour."

Sheezus, Allen's third studio album, is due out on 5 May.

Allen has dedicated the new album to Amy Winehouse, whose Back to Black album was released in 2006, the same year as Allen’s debut album; they were acquaintances rather than close friends. ‘She was not in a great place when we knew each other, so I don’t feel I knew Amy; I knew a version of Amy.’ But she knew her well enough to watch her downward spiral with sadness and horror, and to feel some affinity. ‘What she had to deal with was 10 times anything I had to deal with. She’d sold a hell of a lot more albums than me, and there was a lot more interest in her. There were people outside her home 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I know what that was like on a much smaller level, and I felt trapped. She couldn’t do anything or go anywhere without there being a frenzy; and she was all about life and enjoying herself and socialising, and when that’s taken away from you… she was a prisoner.’ Allen thinks about this. The problem with Amy, she says, was that ‘she was too damn interesting for her own good’.
Did Allen ever feel she might have been heading along the same destructive path?
‘I’m too much of a control freak. I think I’m maybe better equipped at knowing when I need help and being able to ask for that. And I’ve got two children and a husband.’

Lily Allen defends 'martyr' Lady Gaga for retaining artistic integrity

The singer defended Gaga for not compromising


Lily Allen has spoken out in defense of Lady Gaga and her ideals, reffering to her as nothing less than a "martyr".
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine Allen said that everything Lady Gaga had done with new album ARTPOP was to be commended. While the album has been widely criticized by detractors for less than spectacular sales, Allen believes that Gaga should be praised for standing by what she believes in.
"If she's not succeeding commercially because she's standing by what she does as art, then that's a ****ing great thing," said Allen. "That's to be commended. That's what makes a martyr. There's nothing wrong with that."

Meanwhile Allen went on to discuss the issue of her comeback and selecting the right tracks for radio play. Recently she admitted that her songs had been slightly lacklustre after being challenged by a fan on Twitter and swiftly blamed her record label. She stated that staying radio friendly had ruined her comeback to an extent.
