After last week's Met Gala in NYC, Jay Z, Beyoncé, and her sister Solange were at an after-party at the Standard Hotel. On Monday, TMZ released surveillance camera footage showing Solange physically lashing out at Jay inside of an elevator. Now, the three have given a joint statement to the Associated Press regarding the incident. It reads:

As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.

The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.

The Standard also announced that it had identified and fired the person responsible for selling the footage to TMZ.

More or less. I wouldn't be shocked if anything from buying Solange's silence to blackmailing her into putting up and shutting up were tactics employed. Beyonce's career is built on a foundation of appearing to be superwoman the perfect wife. Anything to the contrary is unacceptable for her career. Jay Z's career wouldn't fall apart if he and Beyonce split up because he hasn't dedicated his career to being someone's husband; Beyonce has made her entire image revolve around being someone's wife.
