Good bit by Stephen Colbert on Romney trying to smear Trump. He makes a great point at the end in that the GOP establsihment might back Romney if he declared at the convention in July. It'd be a bit left field but it might be enough to stop Trump.

Seriously though, not a single republican candidate wants to protect climate change? Doesn’t that worry you or do you agree with them?

As for Trump, the American presidency isn’t like hosting a talk show, its not about pandering to get yourself in the news and its not about playing to the crowd back home. Presidency isn’t about Trumps sort of vindictive entertainment either….One that comes to mind is when he mimicked the body movements of that physically handicapped journalist who outed his big lie on Muslims cheering 9/11.

American presidency is not about gold leaf and marble columns or having your name up in lights; nor is it about threatening to sue those who discredit your governance, but about massive decision making and taking responsibility for those decisions; responsibilities like sending 21 year olds into war zones, ensuring the banking system doesn’t collapse and owning the nuclear codes. Being the US president its not just about looking after America either, but about working as a world diplomat with other leaders around the globe and giving assistance when needed.

Trump is a show man and a sales man with a convincing pitch but he’s an amateur. When it comes to government, he’s no different to the kid who’s a white belt at karate but convinces everyone around him that he’s really a black belt. He’s a man who’s built his empire on both inheritance and lies and he’s a man who has very deliberately stirred up some evil propaganda. He’s a nonsense, a joke, a fool who, for all his money, behaves like white trailer trash and so although I hope none of the republican candidates get in, I sincerely hope its not him.

US Republican front-runner Donald Trump has softened his stance on torture, saying he would not order the military to break international law.

Mr Trump had indicated in a TV debate on Thursday he might order troops to carry out water-boarding "and tougher" on terrorism suspects.

On Friday, he said "as president I will be bound by laws".

source: various news agencies

Good to see Donald abiding by international law

That is exactly why he is winning. The fact that he isnt a politician who will bow down to big business and banks is one of his main campaign issues. Then compare that to how much Hillary embodies the establishment and how much she takes from big banks and big business then you see a Hillary victory is not the sure thing many people think it is.

All the Republicans are as bad as one another (I mean, they all have similar agendas) but at least the others have a good foundational base in the political field. Its like voting for Alan Sugar because we like the way he's a straight talker, he's someone we can all aspire to and more importantly, we find him entertaining. Whilst he may be a Lord, that doesn't mean he's capable or calm enough to make decisions on every aspect of government.

He keeps telling us how rich he is and how he’s funding his own campaign but is he ? Since August of last year Trump set up a donate site and although the real figures aren't going to come out before his tax returns, its reported to be many, many millions of dollars.

Its impossible to do the maths on what's came out of his own pocket without the total figures of donations received but when you learn that Trump is running his campaign in the building he owns and using a lot of those donor contributions to pay the rent to himself, it becomes apparent that he’s putting the donations in his own pocket so he can claim he’s paying for the campaign himself. My guess would be, he hasn't spent a dime.

He also tells us that some of those donations go to his chosen ‘Veteran groups’ which he claims are none profit charities but when both Politcusus and Forbes did a bit of digging they discovered this-

“The Donald J. Trump Foundation has donated $5.5 million to 298 charities between 2009 and 2013 (the most recent year available), according to the non-profit’s 990 tax forms from those years. Of that, only $57,000 has been donated to seven organizations that directly benefit military veterans or their families, Forbes found. Wounded Warriors was not among the organizations Trump’s foundation gave to in that time period.
Forbes also found that Trump, who we estimate is worth $4.5 billion, has not made personal contributions to his foundation during the same time period. We reached out to his spokespeople for comment, but did not hear back."

http://www.forbes.com/sites/emilycan.../#5fa86e886c9e

So barely 1% of Trump’s foundation’s donations went to organizations that support veterans. Which is strange because he’s really used these Veterans to gain popularity. All charitable donations (not surprisingly) are funnelled through his company and so there is no way of knowing if his own company donate a single dime to these Veterans he claims to be supporting.

The Trump campaign refuses to tell Forbes which veteran groups its working with, though they did let it slip they were supporting the “Wounded Warrior Project” a charitable organization that are known for spending most of their donations on staff luxury hotels and holidays.

I disagree the others have a good base in politics. Rubio is without doubt the most bought politician in this field and possibly the most bought of all time. Its not particularly relevant how many years he has in the Senate when its pretty much common knowledge he does not have his constituents best interests at heart. Trump beats them all with his sound bites that apparently speak to the heart of the American middle classes. The middle classes know Rubio or Cruz dont care about them so along comes Trump to take all their votes.

agreed. the corporations hate him, which shows he is a good guy underneath it all...a man who is really there for small to medium business people, not corporate monopolies. this subtle difference is lost on the politics of envy and hate on within the radical liberals whose over simplistic inverted bigotry blames everything on gender and sexuality.lol. if only business were that simple. real business, real competition, is about the truth

Bernie Sanders is getting attacked as much as Trump. I'd say he's being slaughtered by the Dem establishment. First there was the super delegate fiasco in New Hampshire which meant even though Bernie won 60% to 40% both candidates left New Hampshire with 15 delegates each. What about the constant attacks from the Daily beast? After just a slight bit of investigation we see an associate editor and regular contributor to the Daily Beast is Miss Chelsea Clinton. Coincidence?

Conservative American politics are a bunch of evil MF's. Historically they have fecked up everything concerning Black and poor people across the decades.... That is, in America. I may not agree with a lot of British conservatism but it is a horse of a different colour, when compared to their American counterparts.
