From my local Facebook group:

"So, after seeing the news last night about fuel shortages, I popped in to Tesco at 0530
when I should have been sleeping! I spoke to a very nice tanker driver who was rather
informative and told me that the boats carrying fuel are arriving daily at Plymouth, the
two depots in Plymouth are extremely well stocked and there is no shortage of drivers.
His only concern was news articles misleading the public. He finished by explaining that
it is only BP who have issues. Back to bed...."

it's a misunderstanding that the petrol is any different in it's basic form, it all comes from the same pot. Where it may differ is in the additives that each company adds to it. If there was a shortage of drivers at a particular location, it will affect all those companies. The fact that BP was most affected in Scotland merely indicates that the major distribution centre in Scotland is BP

Default Lack of Lorry Drivers has held back Petrol (Public Panic)

We quickly entered the knock-on phase. News about shortages got out, it probably wasn’t a huge problem, but people panicked and everyone went to immediately grab a full tank so loads of places ran out because of the much higher than usual demand. In theory that should resolve relatively quickly - because now all the panic-buyers have tanks full to the brim so they won’t be back for a while.

Basically, think of it like toilet roll at the start of the pandemic. There was never any physical shortage of toilet roll - but the shelves were empty, because everyone ran out and bought it all. Same going on with fuel right now.

It was good of the bbc to send reporter Phil McCann out to report on this issue this morning.

Grant Shapps possibly next Minister to have to go.
He seems to be living on another planet.

All he's doing is blaming everyone else, not him or the government.
