She is mixed race, but it seems Meghan wanted to be portrayed as Caucasian as that is what she put down on her audition applications when applying for acting parts. Which is why she had her hair straightened and her nose refined.
She liked being mistaken for Italian.

She only became vocal about being a 'proud black woman' when it suited her to call everybody racist who dared to criticise her, which does a disservice to all black women who wouldn’t dream of using their skin colour to provoke racial tensions and hide behind. Do you have any idea how difficult it is for black people especially black women, in the industry. Meghan being mixed race gave her an advantage & even then it's still tough in the industry. And you're constantly stereotyped & judged on your background & race .

If you don't see the racism Meghan has experienced in the media ,then you must be turning a blind eye.
She's from LA ,yet a dumb headline was written about her as "straight out of Compton". If you can't see the racist stereotyping there then wow .

Meghan seems very proud of her black roots , she's probably had people make ignorant remarks about her skin tone - race all her life. People have different ways of dealing & coping with that .

It's not her fault of people think she can pass for Italian, some light skinned mix race people can pass for white ..but it still doesn't change who they are or where they're from.

What's interesting is when idiots make racist comments in front of them, not realising they're actually black. People show their true colours when they think they're with their own 'kind' .

What right does anyone have to tell Meghan how black she is , she is still black. Her hair & nose have zero to do with it .

Ever think she might have been pressured to change her appearance?. Even Alexandra Burke said the music industry would bully her into changing her hair & skin tone , to be more 'appealing' . It's utterly disgusting really.

Have you ever actually filled out a form where they ask your race .

I tell you something , it's alot more than just "mixed race" .

It asks your nationality aswell as heritage/ background . I've filled out enough to know.

How do you know she put Caucasian ? . Plus you don't know what she went through in her auditions, it's not exactly an easy road .

I think some people find it hard to grasp that people are or should be cast on their merit & acting ability, rather than just how they look or what ethnicity they are.

Don't get me wrong I know it depends on the role ,but the person needs to have the skills aswell .
