I’m surprised there hasn’t been more public CCTV or dashcam footage released. These days many homes and cars have cameras — doorbell cams, shop cameras, dashcams, and traffic cameras — so you’d expect more to show up.
Is the footage being kept back because the investigation is ongoing? Have police checked nearby cameras and dashcams? Are there legal reasons they can’t share what they have? Has the public been asked to check and send in any recordings? If anyone has seen confirmed footage or reliable updates, please share the source. I’m not looking to speculate — I just want to understand why there seems to be so little visual evidence available.

How could Nancy Guthrie's kidnapper avoid surveillance cameras? There are no streetlights. Nobody is out walking on darkened residential roads, which wind past the muted lights on adobe walls of the upscale homes tucked among mesquite trees that perfume the desert air. And above the dark silhouettes of giant saguaro, a sky unimpeded by light. It's a neighborhood whose rural nature in a celebrated dark-sky region may have helped shroud what is suspected to be the abduction for ransom of the octogenarian Nancy Guthrie, 84, on Jan. 31. Still, the home had multiple security cameras and more than a dozen outdoor light fixtures. Other homes in the area had cameras too. Yet so far, despite ongoing efforts, authorities said on Feb. 5 that no camera footage has yet led police to identify a vehicle or a suspect. How could a possible kidnapper escape unseen when everything from home surveillance cameras to license-plate reading technology to biometric facial recognition seem to be everywhere in America? Catalina Foothills is extremely dark For one thing, it’s dark. Very dark. In 2023, Saguaro National Park in Pima County was certified as an Urban Night Sky Place. The area also has lighting codes for properties that include shielding outdoor lights. It’s largely viewed as an amenity, not a problem. “We don’t have streetlights because people love the night sky, the sky is full of stars and astronomy is a big part of Tucson’s economy,” said Tom Pew, a board member of the Catalina Foothills Association. Residents enjoy the starry skies and natural rock landscape of black bark mesquite trees dotted with bobcats and javelinas, he said. https://eu.usatoday.com/story/entert...y/88535596007/

If you appoint idiots to run the FBI. If you remove FBI agents because they dont completely comply with the politics of the white house, this is what you get. By definition, the agency just isn't as effective anymore, they are all to worried about Trump's next action

[There are no streetlights.
Nobody is out walking on darkened residential roads] Yes I think that's why they got away with her, and no one knows much. |

…this is the problem, the kidnappers are wearing a ring under the glove…how does that move the case forward and make that information report/article worthy…?…it doesn’t, how many people in the US wear a ring under any glove…the glove that was found has apparently no DNA so these things aren’t helpful to be publicly reported unless they’re ‘significant’ I feel…otherwise it’s all becoming counter-productive …it’s not looking good for poor Nancy is all I/we know and that’s the progression of the case and her disappearance…

…I hope with all my heart that Nancy Guthrie is found and able to be re-united with her loved ones but there are so many conflicting articles and reports etc on any progress that it’s difficult to comment until that happens, is the thing…

there is so much false information that it's impossible to follow progress. The simple truth is they will either find her or they won't and it's just not worth considering until they find her

Police in Arizona say family members of Nancy Guthrie have been cleared as possible suspects, as speculation grows on social media about the whereabouts of the missing 84-year-old mother of NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie.
"The family has been nothing but co-operative and gracious and are victims in this case," said the Pima County Sheriff's Office, which has been leading the investigation. "To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel," the office said in a statement. The Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC News, external that his office sent out the statement because people had been "attacking the innocent". https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjd93rl849xo ------------------------ Time will tell if this announcement ages well or not |

…yeah I read this earlier, I think that sadly the family have had much negativity directed at them…this is the thing with ‘online’ and social media etc and generally the world we live in …speculation can quickly evolve and become something much darker and more worrying ….off topic but I’m watching Traitors, Ireland atm…and without giving huge spoilers, when one person was banished at the round table, they then made a comment about how they’d been banished and it being ‘mean’….I’m sure it was a ‘knee jerk’ comment in a moment….anyway, it apparently led to much online abuse and backlash and ‘hate’ for the contestants it was aimed at…it’s incredible and terrifying how much weight that words can have in our online world…

…it’s also being reported that Trump has threatened the death penalty for Nancy Guthrie’s kidnappers if she’s not returned to her family alive…

The Granny has been missing now
for 3 weeks Crimestoppers has added another $100,000 reward money So now anyone who helps the FBI will now get $200,000 [Michael Hupy, an attorney and president of Milwaukee Crime Stoppers, is offering an additional $100,000 reward in the case. More than 18,000 tips have been called in to the FBI during the Nancy Guthrie investigation. The $100,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of whoever kidnapped her.] Last edited by arista; 21-02-2026 at 09:41 PM. |

…I feel that the increase in reward again is an indication of how little progress is being made in the search for Nancy Guthrie…at her age, in fear and without her medication it’s hard to imagine that she’s ok…a very bizarre and weird case and an extremely sad situation, poor woman…

…I hope so but atm it doesn’t feel as though even that is going to happen and that it may be more hampering and hindering in a surge of false information…

Can’t even begin to imagine what this must be like. A real living nightmare. I thought she’d have been found by now honestly, at the start it really seemed like some sort of ransom plot. Now, not so much sadly.
All we can hope really is that wherever she is she’s not suffering at all. Poor lady.

If not I'm starting to wonder if that was an unrelated attempted burglarly or something, and she "just" got lost and had a fall, or something. |
