I’m surprised there hasn’t been more public CCTV or dashcam footage released. These days many homes and cars have cameras — doorbell cams, shop cameras, dashcams, and traffic cameras — so you’d expect more to show up.

Is the footage being kept back because the investigation is ongoing? Have police checked nearby cameras and dashcams? Are there legal reasons they can’t share what they have? Has the public been asked to check and send in any recordings?

If anyone has seen confirmed footage or reliable updates, please share the source. I’m not looking to speculate — I just want to understand why there seems to be so little visual evidence available.

…it’s weird, isn’t it…?…it really does feel like a most bizarre case and it’s become more complex because of media coverage, which is constantly suggesting ‘updates and progress’ which in reality, seem to be more routine than updates and progress…which doesn’t seem helpful at all to the family or to finding Nancy…for me, the whole disappearance/circumstance and everything since then has just felt ‘odd’ and off…I guess that everyone does things their own way but the recent release of personal family video moments, I don’t see how that would be helpful …I didn’t actually watch any of the vids as it just feels too intrusive…anyway, in terms of your questioning and camera surveillance in the area etc…?…this article highlights a little of what the search seems to be entailing atm…the article is quite extensive so I’ll post the link but I will highlight a few bits also…as with you, I’m trying not to speculate/just very focused on accurate updates…as I think that in today’s world, social media and the like adds enough negative speculation, which will surely only block and prevent that case progression from happening…sadly, trial by the public and by social media etc is the world we live in…


How could Nancy Guthrie's kidnapper avoid surveillance cameras?

There are no streetlights. Nobody is out walking on darkened residential roads, which wind past the muted lights on adobe walls of the upscale homes tucked among mesquite trees that perfume the desert air. And above the dark silhouettes of giant saguaro, a sky unimpeded by light.

It's a neighborhood whose rural nature in a celebrated dark-sky region may have helped shroud what is suspected to be the abduction for ransom of the octogenarian Nancy Guthrie, 84, on Jan. 31.

Still, the home had multiple security cameras and more than a dozen outdoor light fixtures. Other homes in the area had cameras too. Yet so far, despite ongoing efforts, authorities said on Feb. 5 that no camera footage has yet led police to identify a vehicle or a suspect.

How could a possible kidnapper escape unseen when everything from home surveillance cameras to license-plate reading technology to biometric facial recognition seem to be everywhere in America?

…this is the problem, the kidnappers are wearing a ring under the glove…how does that move the case forward and make that information report/article worthy…?…it doesn’t, how many people in the US wear a ring under any glove…the glove that was found has apparently no DNA so these things aren’t helpful to be publicly reported unless they’re ‘significant’ I feel…otherwise it’s all becoming counter-productive …it’s not looking good for poor Nancy is all I/we know and that’s the progression of the case and her disappearance…

it's winter, people wear gloves in winter. People lose gloves. How it becomes a kidnapper glove is beyond me

…yeah I read this earlier, I think that sadly the family have had much negativity directed at them…this is the thing with ‘online’ and social media etc and generally the world we live in …speculation can quickly evolve and become something much darker and more worrying ….off topic but I’m watching Traitors, Ireland atm…and without giving huge spoilers, when one person was banished at the round table, they then made a comment about how they’d been banished and it being ‘mean’….I’m sure it was a ‘knee jerk’ comment in a moment….anyway, it apparently led to much online abuse and backlash and ‘hate’ for the contestants it was aimed at…it’s incredible and terrifying how much weight that words can have in our online world…

it's unlikely she will be found now, it's been too long. The money may be enough for someone to speak out and at least point at a suspect

Can’t even begin to imagine what this must be like. A real living nightmare. I thought she’d have been found by now honestly, at the start it really seemed like some sort of ransom plot. Now, not so much sadly.

All we can hope really is that wherever she is she’s not suffering at all. Poor lady.

Did the Ring Camera footage actually show her being taken away?

If not I'm starting to wonder if that was an unrelated attempted burglarly or something, and she "just" got lost and had a fall, or something.
