I think the phone lines aren't working properly.
Unless this was their plan all along and because they have cancelled the eviction after the phone lines opened nobody would suspect them of fixing it to keep Mario and Alex in

As I said earlier, it couldn't be a nominated housemate walking because they wouldn't let them do that (IE: Orlaith)

It'd have to be a serious matter for a housemate to leave.

Possibly an attempt to rise ratings, or something very bad has happened.
