Exactly how it would sound if there was corruption involved. It was never going to be "**** the scouse victims." but if it was dodgy; ignoring what everyone else was saying, speed the restart up and then washing his hands, is exactly what would happen. We have no idea what he was up to reffing in the UAE on Thursday night.

That restart is the most suspicious. They took 3 and a half minutes trying to sort the Everton goal, and this was done in seconds.

It's astonishing that 3 years in we finally have a watershed moment for VAR. All the talk and disagreement but I think all agreed this cannot happen again. There has to be a process in place to stop the game and reverse an incorrect decision. I'm kindof stunned there isnt already a procedure in place.

Frankly, the incompetence of the referees is the reason for this. They have themselves to blame.

i think the refs have always been incompetent, it's just VAR is highlighting it. People want near instant checks to keep the game flowing which is what creates the pressure and mistakes and ironically, it's why refs make errors on the field in the first place.

If they want VAR, they need to be able to stop the game and go back and allow them the time it takes to make decisions without time pressure
