We go up to 10th tomorrow if we beat Blackpool and Newcastle don't beat City.

Glad Sunderland got a point there.

First team to win at St. Andrews in over a year

Nice to see Moysey smiling again.

Oh and that was Timmy's 100th league goal - happy days!

Jovanovic considering leaving us already... Lack of starting games. Hope Roy gives him a start tomorrow because he is a good player, works hard, just hasn't adjusted to the league properly yet.

Sunderland were much the better team against Man United and were unlucky to only get a point. Everton got a good win at Birmingham. Tottenham came from behind to beat Villa with two goals from Van der Vaart. Wigan won a boring game against Wolves in the early kick off.

In the Championship, Cardiff got a good win at Oakwell despite missing a penalty. Bristol City went bottom after a 3-0 home defeat to Norwich. OPR move 6 points clear at the top with a 2-1 win against Palace at Selhurst Park. Middlesbrough gave away a 2-0 home lead against Portsmouth to only draw 2-2. Preston did well to hold Reading to 1-1 despite having a player sent off.

The big game in France between St Etienne and Marseille ended in a draw. Gignac opening the scoring for Marseille and Batlles equalised for St Etienne. Promoted side Arles Avignon stayed on 0 points after a 4-0 home loss to Champions League side Auxurre. Bordeaux beat Lorient 1-0 and Lyon beat Nancy in a 5 goal thriller.

Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg were held to a 1-1 draw by Borussia Monchengladbach. Hamburg overcame Kaiserslautern with two second half goals to win 2-1. Mainz continued their unbelievable start to the season with their 7th consecutive win. They are top of the league having played seven and won all seven. Not a bad start for a team tipped for relegation. The big match in Germany is tomorrow when Bayern Munich travel to Dortmund.

Only two games in Serie A. AC Milan moved to the top with a win against Parma thanks to a magnifcant goal by veteran Andrea Pirlo. Udinese beat Cesena in the other game with a last minute goal from Benatia.

Loads of big games across Europe tomorrow with Bayern going to Munich, Inter hosting Juventus and Chelsea playing Arsenal.

Karl Henry tackle and repugnant fat Sam

Here is the video showing Karl Henry's latest leg breaking challenge. Well done to Lee Mason for getting the red card out straight away, it's just a shame that the FA don't want to highlight this kind of violence by giving extended bans of at least six games, that's what this kind of recklessness deserves.

The most worrying thing is that Karl Henry seems to be aggrieved that he has been sent off, he seems to think he has been harshly treated and it should only be a yellow card. The amount of force that he has put into the tackle is truly frightening, it is just incredibly lucky that Gomes has come out of it without a shattered bone.

There were a few other poor tackles yesterday, N'Zonzi's straight legged lunge against Stoke stood out and deserved a red card for it's recklessness. Fat Sam's comments on bad tackling yesterday also showed just how regressive some people's attitude is. He talked of football being a game of eleven versus eleven and said that yellow/red cards were 'game spoilers'.

Fat Sam may think that leg breaking tackles are just mistimed accidents but that is just plain nonsense coming from a man whose team go out to make up for their lack of skill by being overly dangerous and aggressive. The 'game spoilers' are the likes of Allardyce and Pulis who instruct their teams to go out and win at all costs. The tackles that are so overly forceful and violent that they routinely break bones are the 'game spoilers'. Teams that play like fat Sam's need to be punished properly to wipe them out of the English game, the FA need to step in the punish reckless tackling properly. The fact that Karl Henry only gets a three game ban for his tackle is beyond a joke.

Yellow and Red cards are game spoilers.
No, you fat bastard, broken bones are game spoilers.
Great article..

Ian Wright
It was a rare bit of insight from the former Arsenal striker, which, with a bit more expanding will have gone a long way to belie his recently acquired "jester" tag. In the article he wrote: "In my opinion, the art of tackling is dying and many current Premier League players think they can tackle - but a great many can't. This is why we are seeing an increasing number of broken bones and ankle injuries." Certainly with the increase in the number of traumatic injuries and mistimed tackles it begs the question, just what has happened to the state of tackling and is, as Wright says, really dying?

It’s official, Arsenal have the most ‘babies’.

The Gunners were recently revealed officially as the average lightest and shortest squad in the Premier League while Sunday’s opponents Chelsea were found the tallest and heaviest at an average of 6ft 1 and 13.1 stone.

Indeed, those facts are of no surprise to many who have witnessed the Gunners buckle under physical pressure – mostly away from home.

And through the additions of the likes of Chamakh and Squillaci, Arsene Wenger seems to be gradually addressing Arsenal’s lacking physical factor, the main shortcoming opponents exploit against his side.

The opposition’s strategy to out-muscle Arsenal has grown ever since the departures of the physically imposing (and successful) class of Adams, Keown, Vieira, Gilberto, Pires and company.

Arsenal have beaten chelsea at stamford bridge more times than any other team..

Though i didnt realise the amount of injuries we have..

Gibbs
Van Persie
Walcott
Vermaelen
Fabregas
Frimpong
Bendtner
Ramsey
Almunia

lol, Fabregas is still injured but may be on the bench, Diaby is back luckily as we need the bulk of song and diaby in defensive midfield.

Yeah, and it was very… theatrical. I stood in front of your cameras (BBC) last week and discussed a tackle which left one of my players with a broken leg and he’s out for 6 weeks and the impact of that was far greater. It wasn’t as theatrical. Adlene didn’t go flying up in the air and, uh… we have a guy with a broken leg.

Today, it was theatrical. But it was a really reckless challenge. He didn’t need to make the tackle. I mean, he’s a fantastic guy Karl, he wants to help everybody. He could have helped us and himself if he’d have just stayed on his feet.

Why bring up the fact that Jordi Gomes was “theatrical” if not to try and minimize what your player has done? Why bring up the fact that your player has a broken leg when he wasn’t even in the game unless you want to try and shift the blame somewhere else? I think he catches himself doing this and that’s why he shifts back at the end there. But of course, as soon as he does that he has to say what a great guy Henry is.

Which is how he wraps the whole thing up after the BBC are done with him

He (Henry) is not that way inclined, he doesn’t kick people. There’s no problems with discipline and attitude at the club.

I’m sorry but it sure looks like he actually is that way inclined and in fact it is starting to look like with 4 losses in a row and 2 leg breaking tackles in 4 games there might just be a problem with discipline at Wolves. If McCarthy can’t see it, then maybe he’s part of the problem?

LOL Jordi Gomez was theatrical???? What kind of planet is this twat on?

England coach Fabio Capello has revealed that he is still unsure of picking Newcastle United youngster Andy Carroll but that Jack Wilshere features in his plans to play against Montenegro.

He also said Joe cole is in the provisional squad as is robert green.

Tevez penalty 18 mins.

Good for fantasy team.

But typical lucky city, would love Arsenal to win by getting a bit of luck but alas.. that doesnt happen with us just against us.

Wonder if anyone would have put money on Torres scoring today, i can see it happening..

Liverpool actually looks like a strong team on paper, subs bench looks good too.

Don't believe city took barry off for johnson with milner playing awful..
