What a joke.
This filibuster is a parody, a walking joke. His latest foray as an author is testament to that!
How dare he attempt to instruct others how to form a sentence :/ This great advocate of free speech putting blocking staff from expressing themselves?

There are many with an established British heritage that don't conduct themselves in such an affected manner, his father was a journalist... Let's digest that for a second.
Even if his family had been gifted land by some murderous syphilis ridden king, it is baffling to me how that springboards the status of their modern day decendants...

In the modern era it's not how round your vowels are, your antique taste in suits or the ridiculous sounding names of your children that denotes 'class'.

Freedom of opinion is a two way street. You can think what the **** you want, but people can think what the **** they want about your abhorrent opinion. Homophobia itself is intolerance of an entire community, so I think people are allowed to be a little aggrieved with how they put themselves across when discussing this if ugly bigoted homophobes are allowed to yell their bile from the rooftops. An ugly look you trying to use ‘tolerance’ to protect homophobes

As are the people commenting on Rees-Mogg.

Or is his social class so high he's untouchable?

So is free speech, so can these moronic right wingers stop using ‘freedom of opinion!!’ as a defence from people ever criticising them at all? Words come with consequences, don’t say and think bile if you’re not ready to bear responsibility for it!

Of course he isnt untouchable, but diss him on his actions as an MP not his dress, speech ,etc. some people like him others dont, but it does come across as anyone who has money and has worked hard are shouted down a lot on here.

If he was an ordinary person following the religion of his choice in the privacy of his own life.

When he brings those views into his job that very much concerns the public, it's open to be commented on and critiqued as people see fit.

Obviously.

Oh dear, do we have to submit an essay to you with a critique of every politician in the country to qualify to post valid opinions in this thread about Jacob Rees-Mogg?

Bit much Cherie.

Well, where in the thread did anyone suggest only some should be scrutinised?

The thread is about Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Again, no one's suggested you can't post anything.

A new direction of what? "I hope these people criticising Rees-Mogg know that he isn't the only politician in the country and they have to criticise them too!". Bit odd.

Yes its true that all should come under scrutiny equally. However some openly invite such scrutiny by their words and actions. Whereas some are more discreet hmm. Mr Mogg is one of the former as he foolishly bleats his horrible beliefs at any opportunity.

Tony Blair had strong religious views, May had strong religious views, Harriet Harman had strong religious views, loads of MP's have strong religious views. Every MP has strong views, it's a prerequisite for the job. That's why they are MP's. The are elected members of parliament, chosen by the people they represent. One doesn't have to agree with every MP or insist that they all have the same views as ourselves. That's democracy. That's tolerance. That's free speech

Prerequisite. . Really?
If we looked at all those mps voting records would they mirror moggs on women's issues? Specifically in relation to his catholicism?

Contradicting yourself here Chuff.

Either people have the right to believe in what they think is right and wrong. And have the FREE SPEECH RIGHT TO AIR IT... or they don't.

You seem to be against it when it comes to views YOU don't agree with and it's creating irrational posts like this one.
