…my OH’s father had a ring made for him once which was engraved with the nickname he had for him since he was a child because there was a specific personal meaning attached…we chose that name for one of our sons as well so yeah, it’s something that I totally associate with …Lilibet (Lili) is a beautiful name…God’s Promise…

…welcome to the world little Lili Diana….

the royals have a habit of giving their kids 42 middle names, so i thought just one, was quite refreshing

…Lilibet was speculated and reported by the media as a possible name some time ago …and indeed it’s the name that’s been chosen and now the same media are reporting…OMG, no…really…!!…

…it’s really impossible to make this stuff up….except they do on a daily basis…

I never came across any speculation like that.

…yeah, I was just about to post as well that it was also speculated that the shortened version of Lily would be used only the media spelled it with a ‘y’ and it’s an ‘i’….the queen is also the first person to always approve names of any children born into the family so she would have approved any name that has been made official….obviously the media are their usual predictable selves of …oh really, how outrageous…how can we now spin this story to create this OUTRAGE….

A 'possible' nod to Lilibet by calling the child Lily, a name I see they liked, isn't the same as actually christening the child Lilibet though...and isn't she going to get 'Lili'.

Because parents rarely wait until after a baby is born to discuss names.

Unless the Queens, Prince Philips and Prince Charles's official biographers are all outed as outrageous liars I'll take it they know better than me that it was his special name for her, used affectionatley only by him since the death of her father and Margaret.

The whole family know about the name...the public know about the name....whether Philip was the only one to use it, what does that actually matter? I'm really struggling as to why naming her Lilibet could be seen as any kind of slight.

It really is astounding that this is yet another stick to beat them with I can get the other family stuff but the birth of a child and the subsequent naming of that child is just bad taste imo and actually quite sad

Can you give me a reference on that? Which biographies? Which authors? On what pages?

Because to be frank - you back up an awful lot of your points with the evidence that "a royal source said it" or "a royal biographer wrote about it" but you never actually say where. We're just supposed to accept that they did... because you say so. It's not really evidence, is it... you could say literally whatever you want followed by "one of the biographers wrote it just trust me" .

I have read a lot of royal books by acclaimed authors over the years - still do - and I refer to what I read in them.
I don't have to prove what I write, and you don't have to accept what I write.
Take it or leave it, simple as that.

When I post an article, I always put up a link, ploughing through books to find certain words on certain pages is a bit of a stretch to ask....
I'm sure you can find the official Royal biographies at your local library though...just saying...

This is so untrue.
Most of her dearest friends called her that in private as well.

Could be, it isn't something I've ever come across. I have always read Philip was the only one to use it for a long time.

It's in every Royal biography I've seen that its a well known and.used name in the family. Since they released the name its in every article that its a "family" nickname for her

No.
There have been loads of documentaries on the Queen, her friends and ladies in waiting called her Lilibet in private.
