I just can't see how they wouldn't have had leeway to get their exit changed when they first approached with it in (I'm guessing) spring time 2016? (At that time no scripts would have been written etc). They could have surely said 'We don't want to die' and had their way as the iconic and long serving cast members they are? I've heard stories of actors refusing stories before.

If they kill of Pat even though Pam begged them not to then i doubt they would care about 2 who were there half the time she was

But then I think they would've been written out (and killed off-screen) as a sort of "**** you" and that would've been worse... at least they got to finish their story

I know they couldn't have been like 'no we're not leaving' when SOC told them he wanted to write Ronnie and Roxy out - I just thought they would have had leeway to say 'We'll go another way just not dying' considering they're both clearly bothered and upset by it.

I don't wish to get back into it all again but they only needed a few years break. Absolutely no need for a death story especially when they were getting rid of all the other characters who it could possibly affect a few weeks after. It has to be down to a petty reason on the producer's part.

He can't even use a great story opportunity as an excuse like with Lucy or Den. He's killed them just for the sake of it.

The blame lays solely with DTC he made them into terrible characters who brought nothing to the show so the new producer got rid

He did next to nothing with them. Then SOC gave Ronnie a character transplant and reverted Roxy to a weak addict and made Jack out to be a saint. I genuinely don't think whoever storylined this did their homework on Jack's history.
