BBC Text:
["Johnson snubs food shake-up in bid to keep rightwingers on side" is the headline in the Financial Times. The paper reports ministers intend to ignore recommendations, including a tax on sugar and salt, as part of a review of England's food strategy. The FT says the rejection of Leon restaurant chain founder Henry Dimbleby's proposals is an attempt by Boris Johnson's government to back away from policies perceived as "unconservative" or "anti-business".]

I trust Starmer will resign ??
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is being investigated by Parliament’s standards watchdog over potential breaches of rules on earnings and gifts. According to an update on the website of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, Sir Keir is facing a probe under Article 14 of the MPs’ Code of Conduct. OK in all seriousness - who are these families with "monthly" shopping bills of under £400 a month? ... under £100 a week?
I do a "big" weekly shop that's around £100 every weekend and then I'm back in there 4 or 5 times during the week spending another £20 - £40 each time! We don't eat extravagantly or excessively so ... how are people actually spending less than £100 a week for a whole family? Where are they getting this data? |
