Worth pointing out that 5% of Britains GDP is 3x Estonia's entire GDP

Through SIMPLE solutions, we will be saving the American people $3.9 TRILLION over the next 10 years.🔥

By eliminating self-attestation, streamlining processes, updating technology, & more TRILLIONS will be going back into the pockets of Americans.💵

These are the savings we can deliver to the American people if Congress implements the DOGE Subcommittee’s recommendations. 👏🏻

390 billion a year, or 1.4% of US GDP.

Piss in the ocean.

WAIT, edit

Current US NATO spending is 3.4% of GDP. They want to increase NATO spending to 5% for each country. 3.4% current spend + 1.4% DOGE saving = 4.8% GDP.

Wow what a weird coincidence!!

"Money back in the pockets of Americans" it doesn't even totally cover the increase in military spend. Nothing at all back in pockets.

I’m probably howling into the wind here in regard to who needs to hear it, but
what I’ve learned about Donald Trump during our 20-year friendship is that if
you focus energy on what he *does* rather than what he *says*, it massively
reduces the need for mass hysteria.

Yes because he blows hot air and isn't actually able to push through the things he wants to push through, and world leaders are becoming increasingly bored with him applying aggressive business tactics to politics.

I note you have nothing to say about the DOGE money "for American pockets" being more than swallowed up by additional military spending, Trumpette.

As I'm aware the savings made via DOGE have not been finalised nor passed through Congress, so therefore not one penny if it has been snaffled up and spent on defence.

If you'll read my above post Parmy, I pointed out that current US spending is 3.4%, DOGE savings are reportedly 1.4%, and they have indicated clearly that they want NATO members spending at 5%.

The maths there is very simple - unless they no longer intend the increase to 5% that they've already advised, then they would need the entire $390B/year (plus an additional 0.2% of GDP) just to make the 5% target. So it cannot go anywhere else.

It's not an opinion it's very simple maths.

Let's hope it passes then or they will have to get the money from elsewhere.

The Trump administration have stated they want no involvement in ukraine, it's up to europe to sort out. In which case, the usa have no meaningful place in peace negotiations. They can't have their cake and eat it

I'm all for the fat being trimmed from the bloated corpse of governance... but park staff ain't it.

Do people still refer to adults as "ultra rich" in 2025?

Do you feel more safe or less safe knowing The Don is back in as World leader?

Do you see a better future with Trump as World leader, or do you think we were doing just fine without him?

Two questions there. What are your answers, heartfelt answers, to those two questions?

I don't think the world has ever been in a worse position at any point in human history. I don't think we were doing "just fine" before, but I think a truck full of fireworks and a tanker of petrol has been crashed into the bonfire that was already there, and the only real hope the civilised world now has is to cut the US loose, let it be isolationist, and watch it crash in a mere few decades like the Soviet Union, and forge stronger links in its absense.

As for a better future? Well, Europe's economy and military will leapfrog the US in less than a decade if we start cooperating on trade with the US out of the picture... So that's hopeful, I suppose?

Realistically inequality is going to continue to soar, quality of life is going to drop, and civil unrest is likely.

Hope I'm wrong and you're right about your golden Trump utopia Alf but I severely doubt it. It's already unravelling.

Remember how badly russia performed at the start of the ukraine war, with no real command structure and no-one knowing who was responsible for what with each command pointing the blame on the other. That is exactly how the USA are going to be for the forseeable future.

Is that a good thing? Who knows
