They only call New York Red Bulls like that because of how the US always gives teams nicknames.
If they bought any english club it'd be Red Bull *Club/city name here*

With NBA allowing sponsors on Uniforms starting in 2015/16 season I would not be surprised if Red Bull buys a team and renames them to *City Name* Red Bulls.
They should buy the New York Knicks and make them the New York Red Bulls. That would be a first in professional US Sports, two teams with the same name. That would be as close to a Professional Sporting Club in the US as you would get. I think it's pretty cool that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have basketball teams as well. Can you imagine the Manchester United basketball team?

This is so true, I watch NASCAR and they owned two teams. They didn't have alot of luck despite winning 3 or 4 races. They weren't making any money off of it so they folded. (36 races a season, I think they raced in it for 6-7 years.)

A basketball league over here involving clubs from the same locations and names as football teams would be pretty cool

Especially considering pretty much every school and college has a team.. Sky show some English basketball but I couldn't name you any clubs or players.

It'd be pretty easy to set up a big league too, and use places like the o2 and MEN as home stadiums for teams if they could somehow get the interest in it

Hmm..
football, then rugby, then cricket...and F1 but I'm not sure if that counts, and then you have the likes of tennis and golf that are massive when there is a major tournament on and then there's darts |

Yeah I would have added tennis but most Brits only watch it when Wimbledon is on, but then again most of the country does tune into it

Yeah, they're not like an exclusive sport..or a team sport..so it is basically just Football, rugby and cricket as the main 3 that actually have leagues that get mainstream coverage
