Rachel Reeves has denied claims of plagiarism, after it emerged some passages of her new book were lifted from sources including Wikipedia.

The Financial Times reported the shadow chancellor's book included reproduced material without acknowledgment.

A spokesperson for Ms Reeves said: "These were inadvertent mistakes and will be rectified in future reprints."

Tory MPs have ridiculed Ms Reeves online, while party chairman Greg Hands said she needed to "explain herself".

The book, The Women Who Made Modern Economics, was launched at an Institute for Government event on Wednesday evening.

Thursday Front page

Sky News Text:
[Sir Keir Starmer "made matters worse" when he
held a meeting with MPs and peers to try to heal
a rift over his stance on the Israel-Hamas war,
The Times says.

The paper says four shadow ministers are
on "resignation watch" and about 150 Muslim councillors
have written to Sir Keir to ask him to back an
immediate ceasefire.]

[Starmer’s urgent trip to
South Wales Islamic Centre
– hastily
organised after realising he’d upset hundreds
of his own party members by backing calls
for a siege of Gaza – has backfired in
spectacular fashion

:it turns out the Centre didn’t invite Starmer,
the Imam had no idea who he was,
and now the left are piling on even more.
What was supposed to be an emergency photo
op to stop the left shouting at him
has unravelled into a PR nightmare…]

The labour party could completely unravel just as they were getting ready to win the election

Stranger things have happened so that's highly possible.

However I feel as to this Middle East crisis there will be, if it goes on much longer, a presenting of difficulties for the government .

Public opinion is very fickle.
However how things continue to unfurl in the war region is likely to bring division to most if not all Parties as to how they hold agreement as to the best ways to deal with the issue.

Starmer has created for himself difficulties on some aspects of what is best and/ or right.
However the Con representative had a difficult ride on the issue on Question Time.

Dealing with the issues of war and the divisive opinion around it has been shown to be very difficult for both government and opposition before.

They're just so lucky that they're up against Rishi Sunak.

Unfortunately for the UK civilians, we're ****ed either way, including the Incels losing their virginity once this GE is dealt with.

the tory party are historically more supportive of war. That's how Tony Blair got approval for Iraq. Also, not only does labour have a lot more grass root muslim voters, it is also the party accused of antisemitism, so I think labour will be most affected by it

Well the Con party has issues of Islamaphobia.
So that's another issue.

Baroness Warsi has highlighted this many times.

So if it's an issue for Labour then it's also so for the Cons.

Really one thing under Starmer, and it's one of only few.
How he's reacted to antisemitism and all he's done since becoming leader , which has won acclaim even from the equalities commission who did the full independent investigation into antisemitism in Labour.
That cannot be levelled at Labour now.

As much as hard-line Con supporters would still try to do so.

Keir has taken a good shot at sorting things out, but he cant control millions of people with conflicting voices that are only likely to get louder. It's just my opinion, i see it as a big issue for labour and not so much for the tories

Then it will be a good test for him to pass which could even strengthen his position.
If he listens properly.

There's a growing mood for a ceasefire .
I think he should support both.
One for humanitarian reasons but also to be heard supporting a full ceasefire.
It now depends on what results from Israel's next action.

Where that goes then where the Cons go on that could turn things back on them.

Sunak has said we, the UK stand with Israel ALWAYS.
Always, no matter what they may enact and do.
He may find problems with that declaration.
Depending on what results in the future of this conflict

Yes Joey great points
he rushed to that Muslim meeting
in South Wales.
His staff did not set it up properly

What's always sad during these types of conflict is that it's always the innocent people that get caught up in it, never the evil bastards that instigate the conflict in the first place.

[Nearly a quarter of Labour MPs have publicly
called for a ceasefire in Gaza,
contrary to the party’s official line,
including two frontbenchers.

Underlining the extent of pressure on
Keir Starmer over the issue, 49 Labour MPs
have either said they want a ceasefire
or signed a Commons motion calling for one,
out of a current total of
199 Labour members in the Commons.

With continued speculation that some
frontbenchers are ready to quit, Imran Hussain,
the Bradford East MP and shadow minister for
the future of work, signed an early day motion
on Friday calling for a ceasefire.]

We should find out tomorrow
what these Angry Labour MP's
are going to do.....................................

I really don't see why Starmer is hesitant about calling for a full ceasefire now.
It seems to be the growing hope of the Country too.
Plus in other Nations too.

Sadly Hamas aren't ever likely to agree but then with the other Nations calling for a full ceasefire, with Hamas not, would only expose their terrorism motives more.

I don't get why Starmer is letting this become an issue.

Yeah.

He could call for a ceasefire while still openly calling Hamas terrorists. Anyone who'd resign from Labour after that would really be showing their stripes.

I agree.

Plus though being pro Palestinian is NOT being antisemitic.
As some would decree it to be.

The general population of Israelis want peace just as much as the general population of Palestinians too.

It's really sad that across the World in Nations it's the so called 'leaders' and power mad groups who seem to fail badly and only help inflame the divisions not the ordinary citizens of those Nations .

"I don't get why Starmer is letting this become an issue."

According to Labour MP Peter Kyle
(SkyNewsHD/BBC1HD/GBnewsHD Live Interviews)
it is showing they are a broad church.

Tomorrow More Labour MP's
can split from Starmers "Pause."
Same as Sunak PM and President Biden

I would expect more MP's
to cause Starmer trouble
