On some level I believe that Mother Nature does actually exist, and because humans don't have natural predators, instead we have things like infertility, incurable diseases, homosexuality, natural disasters etc as a form of population control, and that no matter how much science tries to cure illnesses, stop disasters and solve problems, there will always be new things popping up that kill humans because there are too many of us.

The rest of me tries to repress this view though

Right. Heres one I will probably be hated for, but I think this thread could end up being fantastic if people just stopped being scared of what others might say

Jack, please dont read this, as you will have my head

I do NOT believe this man trapped in a womans body/vice versa stuff. I believe the people getting ops done and stuff just want the attention/to be different. I also think sometimes it is people who are gay but don't want to admit it, so come out with the 'Im a different gender in my head' thing. I dont think funding for these kinds of ops should be available on the NHS.

On the subject of NHS..I dont think we should fund gastric bands. Or any kind of cosmetic surgery (with the exception of reconstructions after masectomies, after accidents, etc)

*Awaits abuse/being called transphobic/etc*

I agree with you on unnecessary surgeries on the NHS.

I kind of agree with the transgender thing... but then maybe I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to transgendered people, I don't know any personally; my views are more based on the fact I know a drag queen and he is the biggest attention seeker I know and I suppose I associate them with transgender people, perhaps I shouldn't.

Certainly I don't think there's much difference between an extremely effeminate gay man and a man wishing to be a woman - they're both attracted to men, both embrace feminine culture over masculine culture... I don't really see much of a difference.

Don't bring that up again cause I'd forgotten about it

Most people are ignorant to transgenderism, it's not something that's openly discussed in this country so of course not many people are going to understand it. Homosexuality was in the same predicament until more gay people started appearing in public life and people began to see them as equal and understand different sexualities. I don't really hold it against anyone because it's a societal problem not an individual one, as long as people aren't total ******s and refuse to call people by the gender they wish to be known as (that's just a respect thing IMO, like if somebody changed their name to Kitchen Sink you should have to call them by that too) then they can think what they want to be honest

There's a lot of stuff I still don't understand about transgenders but it's a fascinating subject, what we need as a society is more discussion and research to be able to understand it, unfortunately it's not really an issue and so those that actually have to go through it are left at the bottom of the pile, just as many other minorities have been and still are

As a side note there's biological males that wish to become female but are attracted to females, they are gay though as a result. So it's not always a case of trying to hide their sexuality and actually to go against that I'd personally say that admitting to being homosexual would be much easier than admitting you wanted to change gender, the latter is something much less accepted which would cause more trouble than it's worth so I'm not totally buying that argument

A lot of people on TiBB are actually quite irritating and they have these outspoken opinions on how the world should be and how people should run their lives, but can barely deal with running their own lives.

In a thread where we can apparently insult people from a certain country, I'm sure you can all deal with that lesser offensive comment from me.

No... I think it's a dangerous road that will lead to the thread being closed.

We all know that this thread will lead to that anyway as people on TiBB like to take things too far.

So basically you want teachers to get knocked out by groups of students? Would not want to imagine what happened back in my school days of a Teacher hit someone lol
