Story wise Hotel was ok. There was enough to sink into. I can’t even remember what the story for Freakshow was apart from a circus of freaks.

No, it's Cult. They dropped the entire arc of the story at the end for some hackneyed and badly handled feminism angle that made feminism look terrible and in the process they ironed out any intricacies characters had in order to force them to fit a role in that narrative. Everything that happened in the first half is invalidated in the second and characters change for no apparent reason, like how Sarah Paulson disappears for two episodes after being a nervous wreck for most of the season and comes back as a cool and collected master manipulator.

It's utter trash. No consistency, everything is meaningless and the allegories they went for didn't work. It was just a pile of pretentious wank.

Someone who knows what they’re talking about at least Freakshow had the continuing Dandy storyline with some coherent character development and a satisfying ending.

Although it did have 3 great eps somewhere in the middle, I can’t remember which ones they were and the finale was probably one of the best AHS finales in terms of tying everything up and no loose plots

Freak Show was utter crap. It was boring. It's all good saying Cult is the worst, but at least it entertained and wasn't' a drag to watch. The story line didn't make sense by the end but at least it was watchable. I don't know many people that could make it to the end of Freak Show because it was so dull. Yes it's storyline made sense and the characters did, but it was not watchable.

It wasn't entertaining though, Freakshow had at least a good first half before it went to ****. Cult had a really boring and limited beginning that could have built into a decent second half if they just didn't drop the story halfway though.

Hotel is a good example of a terribly written series that is still entertaining, it was all style and no substance but it was still watchable. Cult failed on both a writing and on an entertainment level. It was just boring.

Freakshow was also boring and, until Cult, it was the worst season but I'd take boring over the nonsensical waste of time that Cult was.
