Yes MJ (allegedly allegedly) paid off quite a few accusers under-the-table in a similar way and some of those are probably the ones who still came forward. The most famous examples (from the Netflix doc) hadn't been paid anything. And I don't think the ones who are known to have received official out of court settlements after a case was raised have said anything - at least not before his death.

As far as I understand it for non-court "hush money" there's likely to be a personal contract involved, but it's not automatically enforceable like an actual court settlement would be? So if a contract does exist, then Trump could sue her for the money, but it would involve a new civil court action (and the contract standing up to scrutiny).

Trump MIGHT be petty enough to go through with that, but the caveat is (and why in MJ's case neither him nor his estate would ever pursue it), in order to raise a court action to enforce the terms of a personal settlement contract, you have to go on record admitting that the contract exists in the first place, which (in the eyes of the public) is always going to be tantamount to an admission of guilt. Makes the whole cherade pointless.
