honestly i cannot stand the accent it sounds like karly is speaking english while trying to speak another language as i cannot understand a word she says which is why whenever she speaks i always have it on subtitles haha

I find this thread offensive! I agree Karly's accent is one of the worst I have ever heard and I cringe when I hear her, but saying that the Scottih accent in general is bloody awful is offenive to Scots!

Karly takes it to a new extreme. I have a couple of Scottish friends and their accents are ok, but you can barely understand a word of her...it's really awful.

her very local fife dialectal accent will be news to the whole west coast of Scotland and the North.

It is like an Edinburgh accent that has gone off.

Still it is miles better than listening to any southerner say free instead of three or you gan out frio-day instead of are you going out on friday

Karly hails from Methilhill which essentially is a sink estate about 2km from me attached to the connurbation that is Buckhaven/Methil/Leven in East Fife.

Whilst it can't really be described as racist, this thread is at a minumum permeated by Regional and class-based intolerances which are pretty despicable.

No they didn't actually!- that song is about the industrial decline that was brought upon Scotland despite it being oil rich by Westmister taking control of the oil wealth (hence Bathgate, Linwood and Irvine as well). The song is about these areas being destroyed as economically viable due to underinvestment. - so read it as meaning "Methil IS no more"

Methil is an area of multiple deprivation which has qualified for ESF and ERDF as far back as 1991.

The song also makes a comparison to the Highland Clearances of centuries earlier which were laid upon Scotland as a form of economic persecution at that time following the Rebellions. (Hence Lochaber etc no more).
