I don't even think it's so much that he sides with Jess and Cody, but it's that he just wants to avoid any sort of confrontation or conflict whatsoever. Another reason that Alex Stern did *SUCH* a great job casting Matt AND Raven AND Elena.

Only 10 minutes behind now and Raven is crying AGAIN because all this conflict just triggers her and upsets her because of her past
