russia now have sufficient pretext to fight against nato if that's what putin wants to do. He can claim nato interference and aggression toward russia as justification.

The only question that remains is will he do it or not

Russia is skating on thin ice having violated the post World War 2 International Legal order. They also claimed genocide in eastern Ukraine and used that as justification for invasion but that has no legal merit at all. Russia's actions breach the legal principle of the prohibition of use of force, laid down in article 2 (4) of the UN Charter.

No one wants to go to war, but personally, I think sanctions will not be enough because China will bankroll them, and NATO is either going to have to put boots on the ground in the end, or this war will not only spread, but drag on for decades and costs millions of lives.

Just my opinion, of course.

i agree, i've been saying for a bit now that we are already at war, we just don't admit it yet. Sanctions may not legally be classified as war, but when they cripple a country's economy, it is war. We are arming the ukranians and even offering them attacking jets. It doesn't need boots on the ground on the battlefield to be at war

If shutting down Russian oil pipeline is damaging for them. Then who's it damaging for when we shut down our pipelines here in the West?

In the Press

A Russian School kid
told his class, The Ukrainians are not Nazi.

He went Home.
His mother was at work.

Russian Police banged on his door
he refused to open.

They Cut the Power to the flat
and left a note saying the Parent must
come in for questioning.

It's not a theory. I shared a video from the US senate with them admitting there are Bio-labs. I'm just sharing it and asking questions

Ukraine's state run nuclear company says electricity supplies to the former power plant at Chernobyl have been cut and has warned that radioactive substances could be released, because spent nuclear fuel cannot be cooled.

In a post of the telegram messaging app, Energoatom says a high-voltage line feeding the plant was disconnected after it was damaged during Russia's seizure of the station nearly two weeks ago.

Ukraine's Energy Minister German Galushchenko told the BBC that Ukraine has no access to monitoring information at the station and therefore cannot evaluate whether any radioactive substances are being released.

"We need to repair it as quickly as we can," Galushchenko said. But he added that there is "a special system of security in case of electricity cuts" which will allow the plant to operate for several days using diesel generators.

Earlier, the IAEA said it had stopped receiving monitoring data from the plant and warned that Ukrainian authorities had told them the plant's staff of about 210 workers have been on duty constantly for the past two weeks.

I heard that it only takes a few days to cool the stuff down and then it’s stable so hopefully it may be ok

That should slow everything down somewhat - surely machinery and weapons may not function as meant at -20c ( that minus 70F to us old timers)

Effectively there is 48hrs to restore power or there will be leaks affecting both Russia and Europe.

The Ukrainian foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said reserve diesel generators at Chernobyl nuclear power plant had a 48-hour capacity.

After that, cooling systems of the storage facility for spent nuclear fuel will stop, making radiation leaks imminent.

Remember the plant has not been in use for over 20 years and that a huge amount of work has been done to make it safer since the accident. It sounds scary what's happening there but I don't think there's the prospect of a major nuclear disaster

BBC:

But in a statement issued on Wednesday, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) sought to calm fears.

"Due to time elapsed since the 1986 Chernobyl accident, the heat load of the spent fuel storage pool and the volume of cooling water contained in the pool is sufficient to maintain effective heat removal without the need for electrical supply."

Meanwhile, radiation levels around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant - the largest in Europe - and which was seized by Russian forces last week, are said to be normal.

Repairs are being carried out on a block damaged by fighting, Petro Kotin, the head of state nuclear firm Energoatom, said.
