With their preference for biomass fuel (felling and burning trees for power stations) over nuclear, I don't even trust the Greens to be actually green...

An Edit of that Interview not long enough. https://twitter.com/KateEMcCann/stat...74822700171516 On his £28Billion pledge on green issues is still on, but subject to his fiscal rules? She also said He said in Parliament Sunak made a video with Farage. Is Not True Kate stated Which he never answered. Last edited by arista; 06-02-2024 at 08:30 AM. |

in fairness, with economic conditions changing rapidly, with conflicts appearing across the globe, it impossible to plan economically with any certainty in the short to medium term. Blaming political parties for not providing certainty in these times is a joke

Labour is ditching its policy of spending £28bn a year on its green investment plan in a major U-turn.
An official announcement will be made on Thursday. Sources insist the party's Green Prosperity Plan, which includes creating a publicly-owned green power company, is not being dropped altogether. But Labour will no longer commit to investing £28bn a year in green energy projects if it wins power. Labour's position on the policy in recent weeks has been increasingly muddled, with some senior figures repeatedly refusing to use the £28bn figure when pressed in interviews, while others, including party leader Sir Keir Starmer, continued to do so. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68232133 -----------------------------------------

Remembering Kerry

I am annoyed at Starmer.
However, the Cons now CANNOT use this 28billion figure against Labour now. So it may prove a shrewd move. It's all the Cons have gone about for ages now so since it's shelved/ dropped, they'll look rather petty and hypocritical to not welcome the move. Frankly I still think Starmer should have stuck to it. Although looking good at considering the financial situation, will be no bad thing too. Honestly though what a choice for the election. As a Labour party member even, it's getting to the point where the only argument I can make is, Labour needs to win but not because they deserve to win. Only in that this despicable rotten from the core heartless Con government only deserves to lose and lose badly I really hope. Last edited by joeysteele; 08-02-2024 at 05:06 PM. |

Starmer is pretty much dead set to win, and if they're scrapping policies now because they're scared of what the meany weany ickle tories are going to say, what do you think they'll do when in power and the right wing rags call him a communist every time he says something that isn't about being cruel to people? Just for revision, Corbyn offered a 10yr/250billion policy. No one should vote for labour, because the same choice with 2 colours is still the same choice.

Yeah he's scrapped it.
The more I see of Starmer, the more I see a man who doesn't believe in anything. There isn't much going on in that brain of his. Baffling how he ever became a barrister. I wouldn't put him on the till at Tesco. |

He made the 28Billion pledge 18 months ago, when everyone knew what state the economy was in. He was still insisting it would go ahead last week. It's difficult to see how that is the tories fault

the important thing is to not have the 28b a manifesto item at the next election. The tories have u turned on just as many items as labour, they even u turned on leader twice
![]() I don't think labour have anything to worry about on that front
