Haha yeah, It seems like an interesting job, something I'd like to do.
Just requires 4 years doing Psychology BsC and do a forensic further course for 2 years. Haha.

Thing is Lauren. You are 17, so you can feasibly pursue that goal. I, on the other hand, have missed that boat. I'm now 32, and there's no way I could do 4 or 6 years study for anything now.

Hmm yeah, you have the pressures of life holding you back now (mainly finance etc).
Once I get into university, I think realistically I will be able to get that goal. Until then, it's still kinda shady.

The pressures of life.. yeah.. ...

I'm like Marge fluckin Simpson here... seriously...most of my time, and all of my money goes on my 2 kids.. so basically that's why I wont do it. I would do maybe a year's course or something, but that would be about all I could stand.

By the time I'm done cleaning the house, picking up kids, helping with homework and cooking meals, there aint much time left to study!

oh, Lauren was talkin bout wanting to be a forensic pathologist, and I was saying how she should go for it, cuz she's 17 and this is the time to enter into something like that.

Then I was bitchin about how I'm too old to do stuff like that now, cuz I'm 32 and have 2 kids to run around after.. so I missed the boat if I wanted to have a shining career.

I read stuff like that all the time, and I watch those programs on Discovery channel. I am interested in it, but I just couldn't put the years in to the study to actually be one.

Going BACK to the topic.

Omg. In science class yesterday, we discussed wether the DNA database is a good thing. And there was this whole debate on it. Then I come home and find this. Anyway, they're checking ever man who is on the Databse around Sussex, I think.

So do you think the DNA databse is a good thing?

Yes. I do. I also like the idea of ID cards, and I feel safer with the amount of CCTV we have nowadays. I think the only people who object to any of this, and who bleat on about infringements of their civil liberties are people who have something to hide.

Yeah. We discussed ID Cards too. I think you're right too. But I decided against it because I dont feel everyone who lives around a certain area, and is on the database should be checked. I mean, they could be on there for having a blood/ferternity test, or something else which is personal. So why should they be checked of a crime just cause they're on a database for personal, non-crime reasons.

Thing is though... I would gladly let the police investigate me if I had nothing to hide. Most law-abiding folk would. And, who's to say that the perpetrator of these crimes has a record. So, if they only checked people who had a record, they might never find the real killer.

True.
So, even if the man who killed these girls hasn't got a record, yet his DNA is on the clothes. Could they find him?

Not directly if he isn't on a database, but when they did find him, they could match his DNA with that found at the scene.
