Since BB16 each room has had it's own style, like BB16's main living area, garden, bedroom and bathroom were all very different.

And it's the same with the BB17' house, the rooms don't flow.

A) It shuts out the crowd meaning that the housemates won't get a proper reception of how they're perceived until they leave the house.

B) It enables the producers to pull off their inevitable fake eviction twist much more swiftly (i.e Emma doesn't have to do the whole "how do you feel about being evicted" and "well, you haven't actually been evicted!!!!" chitchat).

A) They will always be able to hear the crowd. They always have done. even when it was all closed off! Because whenever Davina/Brian/Emma speak to the house the crowd chants can be heard anyway. It makes not a blind bit of difference.

B) I doubt there will be any fake eviction this year. and if there are then the ways its been done more recently is sufficient

in BB10, BB9, BB7, BB3, BB4 they couldnt as i remember (maybe BB1 BB2 as well but i didnt watch)
