Ridiculously silly film that's basically trying to earn a fast book off the back of the Die Hard series, but yeah, it's mindless fun.

I thought Lorna's Silence a couple of nights ago on BBC 2 was really sad.

Blinded by her dream to own a home/shop, Lorna becomes an accomplice to murder. But when she becomes pregnant she realises she's willing to give up everything to bring her unborn child into the world, the product of her marriage to the man she helped kill.

Thought provoking film.

Battle Royale for the umpteenth time, I adore it. The dialogue's a bit ridiculous but it's still a great film.

Avatar The Last Airbender. I loved the cartoon, so it was strange at first to see actors as the characters. But it was good, I might go to it again in a week or two.

caught Good Will Hunting last night. It's a very difficult to place film, because I spent half of the movie hating the protagonist - but it's full of great performances, deals with some good themes and in the end gets around to a nice conclusion.

Toy Story 3.

It was good but you just can't compare that or the 2nd one to the 1st one.

The Hangover. You know, when I first watched it I wasn't blown away at all, which could be down to all the hype surrounding it. Anyway, I watched it again recently and it's alot better than I had initially thought. Ok, it's not perfect, but some of gags are priceless, especially when they involve the simple brother-in-law.

The Prestige.

...my mind is blown. Easily the best film of the 2000s. It's just fantastic.

Nolan has never made a bad film. I mean, the story is kinda slight, but he imbues the whole narrative with so much dramatic tension and wonderful pacing that you're just immediately absorbed into the whole affair.

Haha I know - it's almost impossible to fault him lately. I think the performances weren't particularly brilliant (Jackman in particular could've been better) but the themes it dealt with (whilst unoriginal) were great. Plus there's Bowie. It's like they're trying to make it my favourite movie

----------------------------------

Took my niece & brother to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice last night. It's incredibly predictable and cheesy but there're a quite a lot of funny moments, the characters are interesting enough to keep your attention, and the effects/action are pretty great. Nicolas Cage is on a good streak.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service. One of the best ever Bond's and I only realised after this watch why it was so succesful - George Lazenby.

Yeah yeah, I know it sounds funny but when you consider the narrative in question, in which they needed a new Bond to fulfill it's promise - not the superhero Connery Bond, but a more physical, impulsive and yet more vulnerable Bond at the same time.

This was a more tactile, responsive secret agent, more attuned to his gift of ingenuity and creativity than his arsenal of gadgets. No wonder he failed, as did Dalton, when you see the rubbish that was being churned out at the time. I loved this though.

I didn't see On Her Majesty's Secret Service and I know Dalton didn't do so well in the Living Daylights, but he was great in Licence to Kill. Nothing like the cloying Pierce Brosnan (still the cheesiest Bond to this day) who succeeded him.

Unrest, a wired little horror film, but was a tad different. The plot was good until the end, lost its touch after 50 mins.
