RVP left to win trophies and at the age 29 he has had to do so in the best interests of his career before he retires in his thirties and he felt his best chance of doing that was at Manchester United out of the options he had.

Main man, hmm, debateable at that time. Rooney had a fantastic season and was close to him on goals. I guess, definitely main man alongside Rooney at least. No chance of him being on the bench for some games.
