To the morals/values of some of the members on here.

Well, i'd like to see half of them in that situation lol But as I said, money changes people in bad ways, and it would only be a button.

Maybe it's because of my age, or how I grew up, or the fact that I'm a mother, but I'm actually shocked at some of the responses in this thread.

Well, people have done crazier things for less amounts of money. It's the way Humans are.

It's not the way all humans are. I wouldn't like to be tarred with the same brush as someone who would kill for financial gain.

I didn't say all. But it must be something within the natural instinct of survival, knowing they would be better off if they did it.

Survival is one thing, but this isn't about survival.

It's not like in the movie 'Alive' for example where the survivors of a plane crash ate the flesh of the ones who died, rather than starve. That's a moral dilemma, but at the same time, it's a simple choice of live or die.

This isn't about surviving. This is about gaining money. If it were money to stop you from starving to death then you could talk about survival instinct.. but in this instance, you really can't.

The fact of the matter is that none of us really have any idea what we'd do unless we were put in that situation. I'd imagine for the people who have said they would never press the button there's a 99% chance they'd stick to that. But for the people who said they would, I reckon the majority, or at least some, would chicken out and see sense in the end.

Good point about the ones who said they would. I'd say for the ones who said they wouldn't, 100% would stick to it though. There is no gray area for me and I imagine the same can be said for the others who said no.

If it's not survival then it's greed then. And the fact that people die all the time anyway, and they would not even meet the person. A Paedo dying would just be a bonus.

This forum seems to be full of incredibly greedy people then! I don't see how not knowing the person - stops people from giving a damn! It could be anyone - god forbid even a child, or a parent of a young child. People are being ludicrous. I like to think that a lot of it is bravado - if not, then god help the human race - it is going downhill fast with this generation.

Well it's not. It's just my opinion on the matter. A hell of a lot of people would not care if I died if they pressed the button so why should I care? People have a way too high expectation of humanity.

Of course - but some of the views expressed on here seem incredibly extreme for such young people - that's why I said that I think it is bravado from some of the younger ones - trying to sound cool!

Maybe those views are from a generation who have been exposed to more materialism than previous generations - all this celebrity obsession from many. Maybe things like video games etc have hardened today's youngers to compassion - I don't know. Maybe I am just being naive - but I can't imagine any of my friends, when I was younger, saying such awful things.
