I have a mentor meeting with my tutor sometime this week and then I will be making my final firm/insurance choices. Slightly scary!

Thats the joy of being in Lauren World - I'm fully unaware of my retardedness. It's fun, and sunny, and full of happy-joy-joy.

Yeah, I'll stop now.

I got another offer on Friday from the University of East London. It was my very last preference but just one more to get.

Got my interview for LIPA (Liverpool) next Sunday. Fingers crossed!

Cheers, Mark.

I don't know what to wear actually. It's like group work and presentations and stuff. I don't think there's a formal interview or anything.

Casual or dressy? Any ideas anyone?

Is LIPA a performing arts college? My brother said something to me about LIPA but i just thought it was the name of the university.

Smart-casual, veering towards casual.
When I went to my open days I was just casual, as was everyone else - but since this is kind of like an informal interview you might wanna be slightly smarter (but not a suit or anything )

Congrats!

Yeah, it is.

I'm doing management though.

Aye. There's no like sit down face-to-face interview. There's like two workshops - critical writing & finance.

And then group interviews - 5 minute individual presentation and questions & group interview (whatever the second one means xD)

Hmm. I don't wanna go and be like... casual if everyone else is smart?

Congrats on your offer and good luck for the informal interview Lance.
I chose my firm and insurance choices last week. My firm is Southampton and my insurance is Reading. I really hope I get into Southampton cos it's a great place and uni and it isn't too far from home either, but I'll still be pleased with Reading though.

I made my choices last week too, put Lancaster as my firm.

If I get in, I've also decided 1st + 2nd preferences of colleges.
Fylde College is my first choice, and Furness College being my second choice.

I really, really don't know what to wear Monday.

I rang them, they said smart casual.

But like... jeans/trousers? Hmm, I'm lost.

I don't want to go and be like more dressy than everyone else. Or be too casual either. Especially seen as everything is done in groups.

If it was individual, I wouldn't mind. But like, not only do you have the people from LIPA to impress, you've gotta look good infront of everyone else too.

Help... please.

Jeans - but not ones with the butt hanging out - you could do a shirt with jeans or a t-shirt and smart jacket.

Remember they are more interested in what you as an academic will bring to the institution as opposed to what you have on. I was on assessment panel at Northumbria last year for the social work degree and to be totally honest I couldnt tell you what have the people had on, but I could list the things that stood out about people if that makes sense.

Take it seriously in terms of your presentation etc.. but let them see that you are comfortable with who you are in what you wear. Go in and knock em dead matey ( you could always wear the elf suit)

^^ Aye, Lauren, that's what I'd call smart casual but that's more like going out on the piss smart casual!!

Cheers for the advice, Sunny. I guess as long as it's decent looking then it doesn't matter. That's actually quite put me at ease that has. Cheers m'dear.

Haha, elf costume is staying in the closet til TiBB Xmaz.

Gotta apply to accommodation in a week or two, gotta decide which college within Lancaster Uni I wanna stay in.

Here is all the colleges

The site hasn't been updated much, but now all colleges have en-suite accommodation (yey!!) so I'm not sure which to go for.
