This series deserves atleast 2 million. I'm pretty sure this will be the last regular series unless the ratings pick up.

Considering it was clashed with the football and still managed to be the highest rated show since the launch, i'd say yeah it was great. A good sign that ratings could improve this year rather than decrease.

It won't be the last series, they've already ordered two more regular BBs.

No they haven't they just extended the contract to broadcast BB for another 2 years.

They dont have to run regular BB they can just air CBB if they want.

And your proof of that being?? The reality is, bb does fab for five, 1.4-1.8 a night is fab for the channel, no other programme it shows could better that except cbb, and bb is also immensely popular amongst the much seeked 18-36 yr old demographic. Yes by its old standards the ratings are piss poor, but for five its good enough and I belive the figures will increase seeing as it looks set to be a great series.

I'd agree if it was a weekly 6 or 8 part thing getting that against weak competition, but getting that every night (most nights anyway) for 10 weeks, at 10pm most of the time, sometimes against competition like The Euros (like last night) is still very good for Channel 5 (it would be quite decent for Channel 4), they said so back in February. They pay at least the same amount (probably more) as they do for BB on sports rights which only get them just a few hundred thousand more than that on a much less regular basis. Plus it still brings in more 16-34s (the viewers that advertisers want most) than most shows do on other channels.

I said im pretty sure this being my opinion not a fact.

People seem to think that BB is Channel 5's highest rated show when if you actually done some research you would see other shows on 5 get more viewers.

"Once upon a time" premiered with over 2 million and averaged more than BB and CSI tends to pull in about 1.7 million sometimes even hits the 2m mark.

Didnt Richard Desmond say he would be happy with a 2 million average? It underperforming which sucks because this first week has been great.

Also BB isnt getting 1.7 a night its getting 1.5 and lower. Its mostly in the 1.3 range.

BB is their second highest rated show after CBB, Once Upon A Time and CSI are weekly, BB's on nightly for 70 odd days. Also BB and CBB are their own commissions, so they can do their own product placement.

BB12 got 1.7m in the officials so it only underperformed by 300,000 and CBB more than made up for that.

It's only gone under 1.4m once so far this series and that was a Saturday.

As I said in my last post:

http://thisisbigbrother.com/forums/s...&postcount=209

The ratings are still very good for Channel 5 and they've said so.

The only reason to worry is that they aren't as good as BB11 and C5 haven't confirmed that they're definitely doing more normal BBs, but they'll confirm what's happening in August.

Im sorry but the ratings are poor.

We should be seeing 2 million but its underperforming in a major way.

Just my opinion but im sure alot of people will try to make the ratings look great.

They're poor by BB standards (though steadier so far this year than they were the last few years on Channel 4), they're not by C5 standards (whether you agree or not is irrelevant, we're on about whether C5 do and whether they'll do more, not you or Channel 4, who would, as I said, also be happy with these ratings if it didn't used to get a lot more for them). Again, read (and preferably reply to) my last two posts (which correct some of your assumptions) and read the interview I linked to with Jeff Ford (in which he comments on BB12's ratings, which look likely to be slightly lower than this years in the officials if the ratings stay like this).

Which bit?

Basically, to summarise, it's about whether they're good ratings for C5 not if they're good for BB, and they are (C4 BB's ratings are irrelevant) and read my previous posts.

I think personally it should be performing better for Channel 5 im not even comparing it to past BB's on Channel 4 because that would be stupid.

Im sure c5 were expecting more than "1.7" (last years average) million people to be tuning into the daddy of reality tv when they bought it.

Whatever they say they must have been expecting it to hit over 2 million.

your saying its not hitting last years average but that '1.7'include the total episode views like including +1,Repeat next day and demand 5 views, so it could still be beating it!

it deserves more views tho! i will be happy if it hits 2m a night

CBB did more than half a million better than that (and it gave the CBB8 housemates' spin-off shows a million viewers each afterwords during CBB9), CBB8's launch got over 1.5 million more than they expected.

They can't have been expecting too much from it, the negotiations stalled twice and if it wasn't for it being the last one at the time BB11 would probably have got the same as BB12 did or BB13's getting now, BB10 only got a few hundred thousand more than it.

If they were happy with BB12's ratings, they'll be happy with BB13's, as I said, it's probably going to beat it in the officials.

From what Jeff said in that interview I linked to, it sounds like they expected CBB to do better than BB did, would explain why they did that first.

I'm not saying it not hitting last years ratings though Im fully aware that last year averaged 1.7.

Im just saying that im sure Channel 5 would have hoped the ratings be over 2 million.

It has however done wonders for their channel which is shown in the ratings increase of other shows and attraction of a younger core audience.

Im not talking about CBB either.

This is the regular BB ratings thread no? To me CBB is a seperate show, im just concerned with the ratings of the regular show right now.

And they got 2.6 million in the officials, for both of BB12's celebrity series (CBB8 and CBB9), 600,000 more than than 2 million.

But two CBB doing 30% better than that, either side of BB12 (and probably next year's series, if it happens) more than cancels out the fact that BB's getting 300k (probably 200k this series) less than that.

Yeah, as I said above.
Why do you keep talking about CBB?

Im talking about the regular series which is what this thread is about.

And in regards to your previous comment BB10 averaged 2.5 million thats a considerable difference from 1.7 not just "a few undred thousand".
