I notice the sonic screwdriver is blue in the "Next Time" clip, I wonder if the Doctor gets a new one?

I reckon she's some sort of timelord or a hybrid of one. Every time she dies she regenerates in a different time and place because the timelord DNA is out of wack with her human side or something.

Apparently Clara's last two names mean

Oswin = God's friend
Oswald = God's power

I think she's splintered in time. Something I read about the Great Intelligence and him being splintered in time.

I don't think thats the same villain, the one you're thinking of is from City of Death, plus that villain clearly knew they were splintered in time, Clara is three different people with the only similarities being their last words, their name, and souffles.

I agree, Tennant and Eccleston need to come back, and most definately McGann

Anyone eles sick of all the RTD/Tennant fans bitching about it not being as good as it was? They complain about Moffats era being too much about the companion. Have they forgoten about Rose coming back every season.

Yep, I mean I liked it all at the time, but RTD got caught in a repeating cycle of bringing back everyone for each series finale, plus he always made it look like the Daleks were wiped out, then by the time the next Dalek ep came, he had to make up some bull**** about one Dalek surviving, Moffat played a good card with Victory of the Daleks by allowing the Daleks to win and repopulate the universe.

Even in Asylum too...

I was sure they were going to be wiped out again. Daleks in that number never make it to the end credits.

Yeah, it adds a bit of drama to the series background, with the Daleks always being out there in the background.

I can't wait for Neil Gaimen's Cyberman episode, they havent been done justice in the past seven series of the show.

Even better, that they don't know who the Doctor is. It's an amazing direction to go with them

also
Quote:
As part of Doctor Who's big 50th anniversary bash this year, the BBC has announced its plan to release 11 short stories set in the Who-niverse written by beloved and popular children's book authors. While the authors haven't been confirmed yet, at the top of the list of likely candidates is none other than J.K. Rowling; others include Michelle Paver, Susan Price, Kate Thompson, Anthony Horowitz, Geraldine McCaughrean, Philip Pullman and Alan Garner, according to the folks at Hypable.

Apparently, each author is going to take on one incarnation of the Doctor, which is extra exciting (certainly moreso than 11 tales about Tennant and Smith, at least). The first short story is due out at the end of the month, and a paperback of all 11 stories should be out in November. Personally,'m guessing BBC maximizes the potential interest/sales and has Rowling write either the Tenth or Eleventh Doctors, although there does seem to be something weirdly appropriate in Rowling taking on the Seventh Doctor to me. Your thoughts?

WOW this hasn't been updated in a long time.

Quote:
Earlier today the official Doctor Who Twitter account posted a mysterious message on its page, promising more on Sunday.

They teased: “#invasion They’re coming… Stand by for exclusive coverage at bbc.in/WOAPAf and right here, tomorrow…”

Followed up by: “They’re coming… Remain calm!”
Going to spoiler this because of... well, spoilers

Spoiler:

Who could be invading exactly? Could this be a first look at the Ice Warriors who were confirmed to be returning earlier in the week? Or perhaps the redesigned Cybermen? A new teaser trailer for Series 7?

We’ll find out soon enough…

As promised the BBC has announced the return of Doctor Who this March with an exciting first look picture. Along with it comes confirmation of the opening episode title - The Bells of St John (as was mooted all along).

The Doctor and Clara are riding down the London Shard (as per filming reports last year). Pay close attention to the image and you can see a number of monsters in the glass fragments.

(Spoilered because its a big photo)

Spoiler:

Press release added:

Written by Steven Moffat, ‘The Bells of St John’ will mark the official introduction of the Doctor’s newest companion, Clara Oswald, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. Having already made two appearances last year, the opening episode will be the first time fans get to see the Clara that will accompany the Doctor across the series’ eight adventures.

Set in London against the backdrop of new and old iconic landmarks, The Shard and Westminster Bridge, ‘The Bells of St John’ will also establish a new nemesis, the Spoonheads, who will battle the Doctor as he discovers something sinister is lurking in the Wi-Fi.

Steven Moffat, executive producer and lead writer, said:

“It’s the 50th year of Doctor Who and look what’s going on! We’re up in the sky and under the sea! We’re running round the rings of an alien world and then a haunted house. There’s new Cybermen, new Ice Warriors and a never before attempted journey to the centre of the TARDIS. And in the finale, the Doctor’s greatest secret will at last be revealed! If this wasn’t already our most exciting year it would be anyway!”

Featuring a movie a week from a ghost story to an underwater siege to a period drama, the new series will also introduce new monsters, as well as bringing back fan favourites the Ice Warriors and Cybermen.

Meanwhile the series’ stellar list of guest stars include: Celia Imrie; Richard E Grant; Warwick Davies, Jessica Raine; Dougray Scott and Tamzin Outhwaite, as well as for the first time on screen together, mother and daughter Dame Diana Rigg and Rachael Stirling.
