- Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill wants to sign either Matthew Upson or James Collins from West Ham before Tuesday's deadline.

- Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is battling to rush through a loan deal for Rapid Vienna striker Stefan Maierhofe.

- Spurs will offer £8m to capture both James and Pompey midfielder Niko Kranjcar.

- Portsmouth are hoping to sign Aston Villa left-back Nicky Shorey.

- West Ham and Wolves are both in talks to sign Valencia's 6ft 7in Serbian striker Nikola Zigic.

- Newcastle's Andy Carroll could be set for a surprise exit from St James' Park with Bolton and Wolves keen on the young striker.

- Sunderland are in talks with Hull over a £9m swap deal for defender Michael Turner. The transfer could see Frazier Campbell move in the opposite direction.

- Stoke are keen on bringing Manchester City winger Martin Petrov to the Britannia Stadium, but could face competition for his signature from Tottenham.

- Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still hopefully of concluding deals to bring Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh and Inter Milan's former Gunners midfielder Patrick Vieira to the Emirates

Sunderland are annoyed that Campbell has been linked in the deal and say there is no chance he is leaving.

Liverpool Have Just £1.5m to Spend: Are the Americans Bleeding the Club Dry?

Rafa Benitez has been left devastated after being told he has just £1.5million to spend by his club’s American owners.

The Liverpool manager has struggled against budget constraints all summer because of the financial crisis at Anfield, and revealed a week ago he was in talks to try and extend his kitty.

Benitez wants a centre half to provide cover in a crucial position, with Daniel Agger suffering from a back problem, and he also would love to sign a wide player who can also operate as a stand in striker.

But after talks with the Yanks, he has been told there is only a miserly sum available – which will not even buy one player, never mind the two he desires.

It has left the Liverpool searching frantically around for a loan signing before the transfer window closes at the end of August, and he has sounded out several targets.

That loan period was up in June, but with the Bernabeu side signing Valencia centre half Raul Albiol in the summer they have no room in the squad for Garay and will consider another loan.

If this is accurate then It just goes to show what we as Liverpool fans should expect from the Yanks. Many believe that Messrs Gillett and Hicks will bleed the club dry and then leave, and if recent evidence is anything to go by, then that looks more and more likely.

This season we have spent around £15.5m outright, because the majority of the Alberto Aquilani fee is held over dependent on other factors and a large chunk of the Glen Johnson fee was paid by the money Portsmouth still owed us. However we have recouped around £35m from the sales of Alonso. Arbeloa, Anderson and Leto, we have also removed Jermaine Pennant’s hefty wage from our outgoings, so how the hell do we have no money?

Last season we may have spent around £10m more than we sold, but that’s by no means a kings ransom and pales into insignificance when compared to any other Premier League club, hell Stoke City spend £15m more than they sold last season!

A club of the size and stature and marketability as Liverpool shouldn’t be in this mess. I am not suggesting that the club should be up there with Chelsea and Man City but I do expect them to have a pot to piss in!

Wenger has said that fletcher was there to interupt play by fouling, he is annoyed that fletcher made 6 fouls, that arsenal were given 6 free kicks yet he never got a yellow card.. even with giving 9 other cards out throughout the game.

Man Utd : 22 fouls 3 cars

Arsenal : 16 fouls 6 cards

Ref's fear at old trafford?

Current betting odds for the Premiership title.

Chelsea : 9/5
Man Utd : 11/4
Arsenal : 7/1
Liverpool : 8/1
Man City : 12/1
Tottenham : 33/1

Arsenal were very close to 5th before the season started, no faith in us, now we are 3rd

Many rich overseas people would buy Liverpool and invest heavy into the club..

Liverpool is a brand name just like Real Madrid with a rich history..

Problem is they aren't the big club they once were.

Out of the top 4 liverpool now have the least fans around the world.

Liverpool are bigger than Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal.. That is a fact!

Saying Liverpool aint big is silly! Fk the prem league title.. It's all about the Champions League, Chelsea and Arsenal yet to win it!

Liverpool have millions and millions of fans in the middle east and asia (asia is fking huge!)

Do you really think people want to buy Portsmouth and Man City? Lol..
Liverpool is what the super rich want to invest in, many support the club and love the club..

Liverpool is a super club!
