How could he swap cigs for anything??
If he did he would have to admit he had cigs??
No way would he ever be able to tell a smoker he had cigs??
So he was just waiting until they run out...my dad does the same thing..he was trying to be nice but it backfired

Ciggies are currency in the house with smokers. Lisa has been using this for weeks until Marcus put his foot down over the basic budget abuse. I'm not surprised he's stashed a pack while times are good to help when times are bad. Some might even call that sensible.

No, he was just doing it for the same reason Marcus does anything and everything - to make Marcus look cool, tough, smart, better than everyone else, manipulate or one-up someone.

The most likely explanation is that he was intending to hang on to them until everyone ran out (if they did) and then make a great big deal about how he is such a mental genius with such amazing powers that "I knew this would happen.. I absolutely KNEW it!".
Then make a very big deal about how he could have swapped them but he sacrificed that and will give them cigarettes.
Hopefully avoiding nomination for his great amazing act.

The guy is such a fukktard.

*And yes, he would have given them to Bea in some weird idea of winning some favour, wrestles or massages from her.

This may well have been his original intention but then he positioned them strategically where they could not possibly be missed when he SENT Sophie to get a can of lager out of his drawer.

He knew, he just KNEW what would happen when she 'found' them, as he intended. He then sat back and watched the fireworks, spraying petrol on the fire when it suited him.

Clearly I am not stating the above as a fact, but as a very reasonable hypotheseis based on how he has conducted his manipulative, controlling self thus far.
